  • Patent number: 10106154
Abstract: A driving support apparatus according to the invention estimates the position of a moving body by controlling a position estimation unit when the tracking-target moving body leaves a first area or a second area to enter a blind spot area and detects the position of the moving body by controlling a position detection unit when the moving body leaves the blind spot area to enter the first area or the second area. In this manner, the trajectory of the tracking-target moving body is calculated so that the trajectory of the moving body detected in the first area or the second area and the trajectory of the moving body estimated in the blind spot area are continuous to each other and driving support is executed based on the calculated trajectory of the tracking-target moving body.

  • Publication number: 20180274355
Abstract: Described is a system for estimating measured depth of a borehole. The system comprises a drilling fluid pulse telemetry system positioned in a borehole and processors connected with the drilling fluid pulse telemetry system. Time series measures are obtained from an environmental sensor package. Initial estimates of a time delay and path attenuation amplitude are determined. An error for the initial estimates is determined, and iterative minimization of the error is performed until source signal parameters converge, resulting in a least squares estimate of the source signal and the reflected signals. The least squares estimate is used to obtain time delay values, which are then used to continuously generate an estimate of a measured depth of the borehole.

  • Publication number: 20180252550
Abstract: Described is a system for adaptive calibration of a sensor of an inertial measurement unit. Following each sensor measurement, the system performs automatic calibration of a multi-axis sensor. A reliability of a current calibration is assessed. If the current calibration is reliable, then bias and scale factor values are updated according to the most recent sensor measurement, resulting in updated bias and scale factor values. If the current calibration is not reliable, then previous bias and scale factor values are used. The system causes automatic calibration of the multi-axis sensor using either the updated or previous bias and scale factor values.

  • Publication number: 20180149480
Abstract: Described is a system for incremental trajectory estimation of an implement. During operation, the system determines a time span of each stationary period of the implement based on accelerometer and gyroscopic data. Gyroscopic bias is then estimated based on the time span and gyroscopic data. An attitude of the implement is then estimated at each time step based on the estimated gyroscopic bias and gyroscopic data. Further, a traveling distance of the implement is estimated. Finally, a trajectory of the implement is estimated based on the estimated attitude and traveling distance. Given the trajectory estimate, an implement (e.g., drilling platform, vehicle, etc.) can be caused to alter its direction based on the trajectory estimate.

  • Patent number: 9985198
Abstract: High-yield fabrication methods are provided for making quartz resonators having thicknesses ranging from one micrometer to several hundred micrometers and thus covering the frequency range from HF to UHF. Plasma dry etching is used to form arbitrary resonator geometries. The quartz resonator structure and the through-quartz vias are formed concurrently. The method includes bonding a quartz device wafer to a quartz handle wafer with a temporary adhesive. Mesa structures formed by plasma dry etching enable the resonators to achieve high-Q operation with energy trapping/mode confinement. A thermo-compression bond integrates the quartz resonators to a host wafer (e.g., an oscillator ASIC) to form oscillators. Silicon cap wafers are bonded over the resonators to the ASIC to provide wafer scale hermetic encapsulation of the quartz oscillators.

  • Patent number: 9975548
Abstract: A vehicle driving situation determination apparatus includes an object detector for detecting an object around a vehicle and an electronic control unit (ECU). The ECU calculates an index relating to a traveling state of the vehicle, wherein the index is a value that is obtained by dividing a jerk of the vehicle by a deceleration. The ECU compares the index to past index statistics, in a case where the object is detected by the object detector and then a response operation against the object by a driver of the vehicle is detected. A driving reaction of the driver of the vehicle is based on a result of this comparison and driving support is executed based on the determination.

  • Publication number: 20180080310
Abstract: Described is a system for estimating a trajectory of a borehole. The system processes signals of sensor streams obtained from an inertial sensor system. Using the set of processed signals, the system determines whether a drill is in a survey mode state or a continuous mode state, and a measured depth of the borehole is determined. A set of survey mode positioning algorithms is applied when the drill is stationary. A set of continuous mode navigation algorithms is applied when the drill is non-stationary. Using at least one Kalman filter, results of the set of survey mode positioning algorithms and the set of continuous mode navigation algorithms are combined. An estimate of a borehole trajectory and corresponding ellipse of uncertainty (EOU) is generated using the combined results.

  • Patent number: 9912575
Abstract: Introduced herein is a technology for a network switch device to route network packets through a inline tool, without introducing additional information to the network packets. The technology records an association between an input network port and a signature (e.g., source MAC address) of the network packet, before forwarding the packet to the inline tool. When receiving the packet back from the inline tool, the network device recognizes that the packet signature is associated with the input network port, and that the input network port is paired with a particular output network port. Thus, the network device identifies the output network port for sending the packet, without modifying contents of the packet.
