  • Publication number: 20190159034
Abstract: A method and system for wirelessly tracking power tools and related devices to aid with inventory management and to help minimize, prevent, and recover misplaced or stolen tools throughout the job site. The tools and/or batteries include wireless transmitting capabilities (e.g., an ISM unit) to transmit data to a fob, puck repeater, and/or gateway over an ISM network. The gateway is operable to translate and output the ISM communications over a cellular network to a remote monitoring unit, such as a personal computer or smart phone. Additionally, the gateway is further operable to translate and output cellular communications from the remote monitoring unit to ISM communications over the ISM network. A wireless tethering system and method is also disclosed whereby an ISM battery places a power tool in a lock-out or limp mode after the ISM battery remains outside of ISM communications for a prolonged period of time.

  • Patent number: 10285003
Abstract: A power distribution box and method of communicating via the power distribution box are provided. A power input in the power distribution box is coupled to a power output to provide power to external devices. A gateway device supported by the housing of the power distribution box includes a wireless network module for communicating with power tools and a cellular module for communicating via a cellular network with a power tool monitoring system. The gateway may be removable from the power distribution box. A translation controller in the gateway enables communication between the wireless network module and the external network using the cellular module. The translation controller translates messages between the power tools and external network. The messages may include location data or operational data associated with the power tool.

  • Patent number: 9853983
Abstract: User sessions are authenticated based on locations associated with a user account used for sending a request for creating a session. Examples of locations of a source of a request include a geographical location, a network address, or a machine cookie associated with a device sending the request. Locations of the request are compared with stored safe locations associated with the user account and a suspiciousness index is determined for the session. The level of authentication required for the session is determined based on the suspiciousness index. Locations are associated with a reputation based on past history of sessions originating from the locations. A location associated with a history of creating suspicious session is considered an unsafe location. Reputation of the location originating the session is used to determine the level of authentication required for the session.

  • Publication number: 20150268125
Abstract: An oil detection sensor module for sensing oil leakage in a coolant system is provided. The oil detection sensor module includes a body, a membrane, and a sensor. The body includes a first end and a second end, which define a chamber. The membrane is disposed at the first end of the body. The sensor is sealably coupled to the second end of the body. A sensing end of the sensor is disposed in the second end of the body. The sensing end is arranged to detect oil in the chamber. The oil entrained in the coolant is in fluid communication with the sensor through the membrane. The membrane restricts the passage of water-soluble products through the membrane. Upon detection of a threshold level of the oil in the chamber, an alarm is signaled, via the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20140006295
Abstract: A method and system for identifying and tracking ownership of a power tool, a power tool battery pack, or another device (“the device”) by storing a chain-of-custody in a memory therein. Initially, a serial number that uniquely identifies the device as well as first owner information, such as the manufacturer, are stored in the chain-of-custody memory. When ownership changes, such as when the device is received by a retailer, the chain-of-custody memory is updated to include the new (second) owner information. When the device is sold by the retailer, the ownership information is updated again to include the new (third) owner information. Reading and writing to the chain-of-custody memory may be performed wirelessly using an external wireless device, such as a handheld unit. Additionally, reading and writing to the chain-of-custody memory may occur via a secure transmission to avoid improper access to the memory.
