  • Patent number: 10076329
Abstract: Adjunct material to promote tissue growth is provided. In general, an implantable adjunct can be configured to be applied to tissue by a surgical stapler in conjunction with staples. The adjunct can have one or more medicants releasably retained therein that are effective to provide a desired effect on tissue in-growth in a predetermined manner. One or more characteristics associated with the adjunct can be altered between various implementations to promote organized tissue remodeling in a desired manner during wound healing, such as by encouraging tissue growth to be in a certain direction and/or by discouraging tissue growth in a certain area and/or on a certain structure.

  • Patent number: 10079500
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and program products are disclosed for powering a device using a universal serial bus (“USB”) connection. One apparatus includes a processor, and a memory that stores code executable by the processor. The code is executable by the processor to: detect a USB connection between a first device and a second device; determine to provide power between the first device and the second device via the USB connection based on information transmitted between the first device and the second device; select a direction to provide power between the first device and the second device based on the information transmitted between the first device and the second device; and control power to be provided between the first device and the second device after determining to provide power and selecting the direction to provide power.

  • Patent number: 10077918
Abstract: A system for securing an air conditioning unit to a building without the need for any alteration and/or damage to the building itself. The system includes a cross bar, an air conditioning unit support, and a strut. The arrangement of the components results in the cross bar applying an outward force to an interior surface of the building and strut applying an inward force to an exterior surface of the building in response to the downward force exerted on the air conditioning unit support. The sum of the forces applied on the surfaces of the building is sufficient to secure the air conditioning unit to the building.

  • Patent number: 10076460
Abstract: A method and wearable system and for enhancing human balance and gait and preventing foot injury through neurological stimulation of the foot and the ankle. Subthreshold stimulation for neurosensory enhancement is provided via electrodes or vibrational actuators, or combination thereof, disposed in or on a wearable a platform, such as an insole, sock shoe, removable shoe insert, or applied without the support of a platform, to the skin surface of an individual. Suprathreshold stimulation for therapeutic purposes, such as improving blood flow, is also provided by the vibrational actuators. The actuators and electrodes are driven by bias signals generated by a bias signal generator that is coupled to a controller. The signal generator under the control of the controller is adapted to generate a non-deterministic random signal, a repetitive pattern or series of patterns.

  • Patent number: 10078659
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a means for validating electronic forms using one or more semantic databases. The invention includes processing an electronic form into individual elements and generating entities for the individual elements. The closest matching ontology is found for each entity and the pairings are grouped into a general formal ontology tree. The entities in the general formal ontology tree are traversed using generated rules. This analysis yields validation results that are combined with the original form to create an annotated form.

  • Patent number: 10080287
Abstract: An information handling system circuit board interfaces storage device surface connectors and storage device controllers disposed on opposing sides by coupling a first circuit board portion having a controller press in connector to a second circuit board portion having plural surface connectors. The first and second circuit board portions couple to each other with an adhesive activated by curing. Resistant ink is printed over openings of the first circuit board portion where adhesive is applied in order to prevent the adhesive from flowing into the openings at or before the curing of the adhesive.

  • Patent number: 10078050
Abstract: In an in situ interrogation system for multiple wavelength interferometers a fringe spectrum that includes non-quadrature-spaced radiation-intensity samples is analyzed to obtain a high resolution relative phase measurement of the optical path length difference associated with the fringe spectrum. The fringe spectrum can be analyzed to obtain a fringe number and a quadrant as well, which can be combined with the relative phase measurement to obtain a high precision measurement of the absolute optical path length difference. An environmental condition corresponding to the absolute optical path length difference can be measured using the measurement of the absolute optical path length difference including salinity, pressure, density, and refractive index of a medium.

  • Publication number: 20180262818
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for providing variable-length media clips based upon a received media stream. An exemplary system for providing media clips to users includes a database comprising a list of rules associated with a plurality of programs, as well as a first server and a second server. The first server receives information about a particular program being viewed by a media player and obtains rules from the database for the identified program that are transmitted to the media player. The second server receives a media clip of the particular program being viewed from the media player, wherein the media clip is created at the media player in accordance with the rules corresponding to the program, and subsequently makes the media clip available to the users.

  • Publication number: 20180256329
Abstract: Devices and methods for supplementing and/or replacing native cardiac valve functionality, e.g., the mitral valve with a single prosthetic leaflet. An exemplary device is directed to dysfunctional mitral valves. In some cases, the entire device, including the single prosthetic leaflet, will be arranged entirely above the dysfunctional mitral valves and, therefore, disposed entirely within the left atrium. In other cases, the valve support and/or single prosthetic leaflet may extend a distance into the annulus between the left atrium and left ventricle. In some cases, the device will not physically interact with the native leaflets. In other cases, the device may physically interact with the native leaflets.

  • Publication number: 20180257118
Abstract: A swab device for cleaning the barrel of a paintball gun has a shaft and a sleeve is slidably mounted over the shaft. An absorbent material is wrapped about the sleeve. A cap member is pivotally attached to a distal end of the shaft by a spring that biases the cap to a retracted position where it faces outward from a side surface of the shaft so the cap extends along a plane spaced from and substantially parallel to an axis of the shaft. The cap can be pivoted by the sleeve to a deployed position where it is substantially perpendicular to the axis of the shaft. The cap has a resilient circumferential portion that engages an inner surface of the barrel when the cap is in the deployed position to clean (e.g., squeegee) the inner surface of the barrel while the absorbent material absorbs any liquid from broken paint balls in the barrel as the shaft is pulled out of the barrel.

  • Publication number: 20180260122
Abstract: A computing device includes an interface configured to interface and communicate with a dispersed storage network (DSN), a memory that stores operational instructions, and a processing module operably coupled to the interface and memory such that the processing module, when operable within the computing device based on the operational instructions, is configured to perform various operations. The computing device determines to facilitate migration of encoded data slices (EDSs) from a first storage unit (SU) pool to a second SU pool and identifies storage resources associated with the EDSs to be migrated. The computing device then generates a migration schedule for the EDSs based on performance information associated with storage resources and facilitates the migration of the plurality of EDSs based on the migration schedule using the storage resources based on an aggression factor and adapts the aggression factor as deemed necessary based on the performance information.
