  • Publication number: 20080099211
Abstract: A reciprocating drive apparatus for connection to a top end of a rod swing to drive a downhole pump located in a well includes a plate adapted to be fastened to a top end of a well head assembly of the well, and a mast attachable to the plate in a substantially vertical working position. A hydraulic cylinder is attached to the mast such that when the mast is in the working position the hydraulic cylinder is oriented substantially vertically, and such that the hydraulic cylinder can extend and retract in response to a controller. A tether is adapted to be fixed to the well head and to the top end of the rod string and is configured such that the hydraulic cylinder engages the tether to move the rod string up and down as the hydraulic cylinder extends and retracts.

  • Publication number: 20070098636
Abstract: A patient who is a responder to a therapeutic treatment for insulin resistance or for one or more diseases associated with type 2 diabetes can be identified by the method of measuring the amount of HMW adiponectin and the amount of total adiponectin or LMW adiponectin in the patient's tissue (usually plasma or serum) before the therapeutic treatment commences; then commencing the therapeutic treatment; and finally measuring the amount of HMW adiponectin and the amount of either total adiponectin or LMW adiponectin in the patient's plasma or serum one or more times after commencement of the therapeutic treatment. The patient is predicted to be a responder to the therapeutic treatment if the ratio of the amount of HMW adiponectin to the amount of total adiponectin or LMW adiponectin increases after the therapeutic treatment commences.

  • Publication number: 20070028225
Abstract: A method of executing a program in a controlled environment includes initiating execution of an operating system with which the program is adapted to execute, inserting redirection logic at the beginning of the program, and executing the program such that the redirection logic is executed. A current instruction pointer is stored, and execution control is redirected to a program loader. The program loader selects a first block of instructions of the program, based at least in part on the stored current instruction pointer. This selected block of instructions is manipulated to provide a first phantom instruction block, which is executed in the controlled environment. This manipulation includes copying at least a portion of the selected first block to form the first phantom instruction block.

  • Publication number: 20060293106
Abstract: The present invention relates to a seal used in a U-joint assembly. A compressible annular seal has two annular legs radially spaced apart with a rigid insert at least partially disposed within each leg to provide a desired loading. The inner leg creates a first loading against the relatively stationary surface of a trunnion of a U-joint to provide a static seal. The outer leg creates a loading, lighter than the first loading, to provide a dynamic seal against the relatively moveable surface of a cup of a U-joint. The seal may include a bridge that allows for relative movement and variations in loads between the legs.

  • Publication number: 20060293107
Abstract: A U-joint system that advantageously allows for limited relative movement between the cups and the trunnions while avoiding excessive vibration. The U-joint system utilizes a biasing member, exhibiting either or both spring and damping characteristics, that is preloaded to create a desired axial stiffness between the cups and trunnions. The biasing member allows for limited relative movement between the cups and the trunnions during rotation of the U-joint system while avoiding excessive vibration.

  • Patent number: 6991696
Abstract: A method of forming a disposable, refastenable absorbent article is disclosed. The method includes directing a first material parallel to and spaced apart from a second material. A pair of lines of perforations is formed across the width of the first material. A pair of attachment members is then secured to the first material such that each bridges across one of the pair of lines of perforations. An absorbent assembly is secured across the first and second materials to form a subassembly. The subassembly is then folded and the first and second materials are bonded together by first and second seam lines. The first and second materials are then separated at locations outward from each of the first and second seam lines to form a disposable, refastenable absorbent article.
