    Abstract: Embodiments include processes for media object rendering, including the steps of providing a plurality of clients, the clients including a media client and the clients in communication with a synchronization client, the clients defining a synchronization group. The media clients include instructions for receiving media object content over a network from a content server, rendering the media object content, and random access to the media object content in response to synchronization client seek time instructions. The synchronization client includes instructions to calculate a relative lag and provide seek time instructions to the media clients for a media object being rendered, the relative lag being a running measurement of its offset relative to the synchronization server's clock. The synchronization client periodically queries the clock of a synchronization server.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for treating oil sands tailings streams at an elevated pH using lime are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the method comprises providing a tailings stream including 10-55% solids by total weight, increasing the pH of the tailings stream by combining the tailings stream with lime to produce a lime-tailings mixture having a pH of at least 11.0, and dewatering the lime-tailings mixture to produce a first stream having 10% or less solids by total weight and a second stream having 50% or more solids by total weight. The first stream can correspond to a release water stream, and the second stream can correspond to a cake. The lime slurry can include about 10% lime by total weight, and can comprise lime hydrate, quicklime, or a combination thereof. Dewatering the lime-tailings mixture can include routing the lime-tailings mixture to a centrifuge unit and/or a pressure or vacuum filtration unit.

The controller is configured to perform operations including receiving the DC signal from the DC detector, receiving the RF signal from the RF detector, and determining the position of the breech based on one or both of the DC signal and the RF signal. The operations may also include comparing a magnitude of the DC signal to a DC threshold and comparing a magnitude of the RF signal to a RF threshold.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for treating tailings at an elevated pH using lime are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the method comprises (i) providing a tailings stream comprising bicarbonates and a pH less than 9.0, (ii) adding a coagulant comprising calcium hydroxide to the tailings stream to form a mixture having a pH of at least 11.5 and a soluble calcium level no more than 800 mg/L, and (iii) dewatering the mixture to produce a product having a solids content of at least 40% by weight. In some embodiments, the pH and soluble calcium level of the mixture cause chemical modification of clay materials of the mixture via pozzolanic reactions. In some embodiments, the undrained shear strength of the product increases over a period of time of at least two days.

    Abstract: A bend stiffener (50) includes an elongate stiffener body (52) having polymer material and two ends. A passage (58) extends through the stiffener body from end to end for receiving and embracing a flexible member (60). The stiffener body is sufficiently flexible to curve somewhat along with the flexible member under a bending load but is sufficiently stiff to resist excessive curvature which could damage the flexible member, and sufficiently resilient to recover its original shape afterwards. The stiffener body includes at least two stiffener body parts (64a, 64b) defining the passage. Each stiffener body part includes a respective interface member (68, 70) having material stiffer than the polymer material of the stiffener body. A securing arrangement (80, 83) secures the interface members of different stiffener body parts together around the elongate flexible member.
