  • Patent number: 9984455
Abstract: A plant growth measurement and prediction system uses drone-captured images to measure the current growth of particular plant species and/or to predict future growth of the plant species. For example, the system instructs a drone to fly along a flight path and capture images of the land below. The captured images may include both thermographic images and high-resolution images. The system processes the images to create an orthomosaic image of the land, where each pixel in the orthomosaic image is associated with a brightness temperature. The system then uses plant species to brightness temperature mappings and the orthomosaic image to identify current plant growth. The system generates a diagnostic model using the orthomosaic image to then predict future plant growth.

  • Publication number: 20170339462
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for presenting content with time-based metadata. Methods may comprise transmitting the time-based metadata to a playback device. The time-based metadata may comprise a plurality of time stamps that are triggerable at different points of a timeline of content and one or more of the time stamps may be associated with corresponding metadata content. The playback device may trigger a sequence of time stamps of the time-based metadata and the triggered sequence of time stamps may be synchronized with the occurrence of one or more events in the timeline of the content.

  • Publication number: 20170279642
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for transmitting data over physical channels to provide a high bandwidth, low latency interface between a transmitting device and a receiving device operating at high speed with low power utilization. Communication is performed using group signaling over sets of four wires using a vector signaling code, where each wire of a set carries a low-swing signal that may take on one of four signal values. Topologies and designs of wire sets are disclosed with preferred characteristics for group signaling communications.

  • Patent number: 9739616
Abstract: A localization scheme and method using a laser sensor for indoor wheeled mobile robots (IWMR), which need to localize themselves for working autonomously, is provided. In this method, a laser sensor moves inside an onboard guide way and its distance measurements are used to robustly detect and recognize a unique target based on edge detection and pattern recognition techniques. From the distance measurements with respect to the recognized target, a kinematic model is developed to determine the IWMR orientation and location in the global co-ordinates (in 2-D). Such target recognition and localization methods are validated with experimental results.

  • Publication number: 20170136325
Abstract: A sound absorbing game paddle containing a blade having a support structure and a filling. The support structure preferably defines adjoining cells of various shapes, including for example hexagonal and non-hexagonal cells. The filling preferably comprises one or more of a foam, a gel, a silicone or other polymer, and can fill some or all of the cells at any desired volume(s). Contemplated methods include a manufacturer building a version of a game paddle without a filling, and subsequently building another version of the same or similar paddle with a filling. Further contemplated methods include developing an improved game paddle with altered sound emissions by determining that an existing game paddle has undesirable peak amplitudes and frequencies of sounds emitted, and then designing an improved game paddle with a sound absorbing filling.
