  • Publication number: 20080103767
Abstract: Methods and systems of parasitic sensing are shown and described. The method includes, measuring, at a first time using one or more electrical elements native to a domain, a parameter of a circuit within the domain and measuring, at a second time using the one or more electrical elements native to the domain, the parameter. The method also includes, comparing the parameter measurement from the first time to the parameter measurement at the second time and determining, in response to the comparison, that an activity occurred within the domain.

  • Publication number: 20080005328
Abstract: A Max Sessions Server (MSS) automatically detects hardware and communications failures. Upon detection, counters are adjusted accordingly to maintain an accurate count of users or groups of users on a system. A database of unique identifiers for each connection is maintained, where the unique identifier is a concatenation of a Network Access Server (NAS) and the connection's incoming NAS node number. If a user requests permission to log into the system, the MSS first checks the database to determine if the unique identifier is already logged in. If so, then a hardware or communications failure has occurred and the MSS must make the appropriate adjustments to the database and counter.

  • Patent number: 7287063
Abstract: An storage area network (SAN) has a manager digital data processor that includes a first element that maintains a first representation of the SAN and a second element that maintains a second representation of the SAN. The first element generates notifications of events in the SAN, e.g., addition or removal of components or relationships between components, and includes with them data pertaining to the event. The second element responds to such notifications and data by updating the second representation. That data is preferably sufficient for the second element to update the second representation without further reference to information contained in the representation.

Additionally, the MSS or an authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) server will periodically check to determine if an NAS has ceased communicating over a particular length of time and relay any failures to the MSS.

  • Publication number: 20070175227
Abstract: A system and humidity control method is provided for a multi-stage cooling system having two or more refrigerant circuits that balances humidity control and cooling demand. Each refrigerant circuit includes a compressor, a vessel and an evaporator. A hot gas reheat circuit having a heat exchange coil is connected to one of the refrigerant circuits and is placed in fluid communication with the output airflow from the evaporator of that refrigerant circuit to provide additional dehumidification to the air when humidity control is requested. The hot gas reheat circuit bypasses the vessel of the refrigerant circuit during humidity control. Humidity control is performed during cooling operations and ventilation operations. During a first stage cooling operation using only one refrigerant circuit and having a low cooling demand, the request for humidity control activates the hot gas reheat circuit for dehumidification and activates a second refrigerant circuit to provide cooling capacity.

  • Patent number: 7171624
Abstract: A digital data processor of the type used, e.g., in management of a storage area network (SAN), executes a process (a “manager” process) to maintain a representation of the SAN topology or at least an attribute thereof. A graphical output device displays the SAN representation. A further process (a “user interface” process) controls the output device for purposes of displaying that representation. An interface element effects retrieval of the SAN representation, for example, in response to a request from the user interface process. It transmits that representation to the user interface process for display on the graphical output device.

  • Publication number: 20070015455
Abstract: An air-conveying device for use in an HVAC system having an interior surface and an exterior surface. An air-moving device is arranged and disposed to move air through the air-conveying device adjacent to the interior surface of the air-conveying device. The air-conveying device conveys air having passed through an HVAC heat exchanger. The air-conveying device includes one or more openings disposed and arranged to provide a pressure differential sufficient to cause passage of air through the openings from an area adjacent to the interior surface to an area adjacent to the exterior surface in order to decrease aerodynamic drag.

  • Publication number: 20060288713
Abstract: A method for dehumidification and controlling system pressure in a refrigeration system includes providing a refrigeration system having a compressor, a condenser and an evaporator connected in a closed refrigerant loop. Each of the condenser and evaporator have a plurality of refrigerant circuits. A first heat transfer fluid is flowed over the condenser and a second heat transfer fluid is flowed over the evaporator. At least one of the refrigerant circuits of the condenser is isolated to provide a decreased amount of heat transfer area within the condenser and to increase the refrigerant pressure within the refrigeration system when the refrigerant pressure within the refrigeration system is at or below a predetermined pressure. At least one of the refrigerant circuits of the evaporator is isolated to dehumidify and maintain the temperature of the second heat transfer fluid at or above a predetermined temperature when dehumidification is required.

  • Patent number: 7150098
Abstract: In a method for forming an electrical cable connector having a voltage detection test point, an insulative shield is first molded from a thermoplastic and a conductive voltage detection test point terminal is inserted within the plastic insulative shield. After the pre-assembled insulative plastic shield and test point terminal are positioned adjacent the opening of the conductive outer shield, and after the conductive outer shield and an internal conductor are positioned within a mold cavity, an inner insulative housing is molded within the conductive outer shield and around the internal conductor.

  • Patent number: 7080140
Abstract: A storage area network has a plurality of components, such as host digital data processors and storage devices. A store, e.g., resident on a manager digital data processor, contains one or more objects (or other data constructs) that represent information gathered from the hosts, i.e., scans. Further such objects represent components in the SAN and/or relationships between and among those components. A discover engine or other functionality executing on the manager digital data processor validates information gathered from a selected host concerning a selected component or relationship based on a scan object, if any, that is associated with a component object or relationship object, respectively, corresponding to the selected component or relationship.
