Patent number: 5925087Abstract: A method and apparatus to estimate slopes accurately, as well as to eliminate slope estimation errors, taking error generating conditions into account. The slope on which the vehicle is running is estimated from the vehicle speed and the engine rpm value. The result is entered to the slope estimation unit through a low pass filter, then to the navigation unit. A noise eliminator is provided to the output of the slope estimation unit so that noises can be eliminated, for example, during gear-shifting or for a certain time after the gear shifting is completed by obtaining the "gear shifting" information from the automatic transmission control. The preceding estimated slope value is held during the noise elimination period.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1993Date of Patent: July 20, 1999Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Hiroshi Ohnishi, Hiroshi Katayama, Mitsuo Kayano, Junichi Ishii, Toshimichi Minowa, Michimasa Horiuchi

Patent number: 5822704Abstract: A mobile radio unit having all improved signal processing technique is disclosed. The unit is used in a dual-mode cellular communications system wherein analog and digital channels are used in combination. The mobile radio unit is provided with a front end whereat an incoming radio frequency signal is converted to a corresponding IF. An orthogonal detector is coupled to receive the IF signal and generates in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) signals. These I and Q signals are respectively digitized by two analog-to-digital (A/D) converters which in turn produce I and Q digital data respectively. A digital signal processor is supplied with the I and Q digital data and demodulates the analog signal using one of the I and Q digital data when the mobile radio unit is using the analog channel while demodulating the digital channel using both the I and Q data when the unit is using the digital channel.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1996Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Junichi Ishii

Patent number: 5496227Abstract: Torque control method and apparatus for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. A value of a desired drive shaft torque for the motor vehicle is determined on the basis of at least an accelerator pedal stroke for thereby controlling a drive shaft torque of the motor vehicle so as to assume the desired drive shaft torque value by controlling a gear ratio of a transmission gear coupling an output shaft of the engine to at least a drive shaft of the motor vehicle on the basis of the value of the desired drive shaft torque as determined.
