  • Publication number: 20030001463
Abstract: In piezoceramic multilayer actuators, the head region and the foot region consist of inactive, that is to say electrode-free, piezoceramic layers. Due to the arrangement of the metallic electrodes and the layers of the piezoceramic materials, the shrinkage of the piezoceramic material, in particular in the passive head region and foot region, is influenced during the sintering process and can cause the formation of cracks. Different expansion behaviour of the active and of the passive region during operation also lead to stresses which favour crack formation, in particular at the boundary between both regions.

  • Publication number: 20020175591
Abstract: For the manufacture of multilayer actuators, the laminate is split into several actuators, which are pyrolized and then sintered. Because lamination in the unsintered body often produces non-homogeneity in the density, and the shrinkage during the firing of the ceramic is not of a constant value, the final geometry of the actuators can only be accurately obtained by the hardening of the sintered actuators. But in this case the internal electrode layers deposited in the actuators are thereby also processed, which can cause electrical flashovers and leakage currents during operation.

  • Patent number: 6403727
Abstract: A process for selectively hydrogenating ethylenically unsaturated double bonds in polymers P involves reacting the polymers P with hydrogen in the presence of at least one hydrogenation catalyst selected from the salts and complex compounds of rhodium and/or of ruthenium in an aqueous dispersion of the polymers P that comprises not more than 20% by volume of an organic solvent. • Patent number: 6167482
Abstract: A method for re-programming a memory device in a micro-controller system is provided. The method includes the steps of installing a software RTC service routine running outside the flash memory device, wherein a counter measures the total re-programming procedure duration (100). The software RTC service routine running outside the flash memory device is stopped (102) and the current absolute unit time saved in a read/write accessible memory cell (104). A re-programming cycle is executed (106) and the former running application will be prepared to continue (108). The unit is set to the previous stored value (110) and the software RTC service routine running outside the flash memory device re-started (112). The software RTC service routine running outside the flash memory device is stopped (114) and the measured total re-programming duration added to the current RTC value (116). The application then recommences (118).

  • Patent number: 6068302
Abstract: The invention relates to a joining connection of at least one exhaust-gas-carrying pipe of an internal-combustion engine having a fastening flange which is inserted in its duct and, on its opening edge situated inside the duct, is welded to the duct wall of the flange, and to a process for its manufacture. In order to provide in a simple manner an automating capacity of the manufacture of the joining connection which is reliable with respect to the process, at least one support projection is constructed in an axially position-defined manner on the duct wall. The support projection projects into the duct and the pipe rests directly on the support projection in the plug-in position in the axial direction. The interior wall of the pipe ends flush with the end edge or projects radially beyond it toward the inside.

  • Patent number: 6005946
Abstract: The reproduction of mono audio signals leads to an unpleasant sound impression because of the lack of any spatial character. It is therefore desirable to produce a two-channel signal electrically from the single-channel input signal. Some of the known single-band methods are very costly and provide only an inadequate impression of a spatial character. In the case of the invention, a plurality of signals of different types are first of all formed from the mono input signal by filtering, and virtual single-band stereo signals are then generated separately for each of these signals of different types. These stereo signals are subsequently combined to form two output signals.

  • Patent number: 5921128
Abstract: A method and apparatus for continuously feeding rolling stock through a cold pilger rolling mill. A rolling stock--either a continuous or so-called "endless" piece, or a plurality of serially fed, spaced-apart pieces--is initially fed into a roll stand by a feed side drive or transporting arrangement, and thereafter, drawn through the rolling mill by a delivery side drive or transporting arrangement that is located in a rolling direction, i.e. downstream, from the feed side drive arrangement. Once the leading free end of the rolling stock is grasped by the delivery side transporting arrangement, the feed side transporting arrangement ceases to feed the rolling stock through the rolling mill, i.e. forward feeding of the rolling stock is exclusively controlled by the delivery side transporting arrangement.
