  • Publication number: 20050157402
Abstract: A front projection display device includes an optical engine including an illumination system, an imaging system, and projection optics. The projection optics include a first lens group of negative refractive power that has at least one aspheric surface. The projection optics output an image at a half field angle of at least 45°, where the image has substantially no distortion. For example, when the first lens group is placed at a distance of less than 1 meter from a viewing screen, the output image has a size of about 40 inches diagonal or greater, and requires substantially no keystone correction. In other aspects, the optical engine can be implemented in a wall-mounted projection system, a multimedia system, a compact integrated monitor system, and a portable projection unit.

  • Publication number: 20050122599
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wide-angle projection lens comprising the following components in sequential order from a screen side: (a) a first lens group of positive refractive power, the first lens group having at least one aspheric surface; (b) a second lens group of negative refractive power; and (c) a third lens group of positive refractive power. The projection lens satisfies the following three conditions: Condition (1) is where |F1/F|<4.0. Condition (2) is where |F2/F|>50. And, Condition (3) is where |F3/F|<3.5. In these conditions, F is the focal length of the wide-angle projection lens; F1 is the focal length of the first lens group; F2 is the focal length of the second lens group; and F3 is the focal length of the third lens group. The wide-angle projection lens is used in a front projection display device.

  • Patent number: 6885347
Abstract: A method for assembling a PIFA antenna (20) onto a plastic base of a handle electronic device includes forming the plastic base (30) with a number of posts (35) by a single-shot-molding process and punching a number of pinholes (215) on the PIFA antenna body corresponding to the posts protruding thereon. The plastic base and the antenna body are conjoined together with the posts aligned with the pinholes. Then the posts are heated and then transfigured to flat-shape for engaging the edges of the pinholes. Thus the PIFA antenna is firmly retained on the plastic base.

  • Publication number: 20040215812
Abstract: A method for transmitting the time-critical data over Ethernet. The method can tolerate at least 50% of packet-drop without affecting the quality of transmission. Ethernet network is considered a connectionless network, so the packet-drop is not avoidable. Therefore, the key to transmitting the time-critical data over Ethernet is not to prevent the packet-drop, but to control and to tolerate the packet-drop. To tolerate the packet-drop, we have to carry redundant data in each Ethernet packet so that we can recover the lost information from the redundant data when packet-drop occurs. An easy way of carrying the redundant data is as follows. Every packet carries two parts of data. The first part is the required data, and the second part is the redundant data. The required data is the data that the packet is supposed to carry in the case without redundant data. The redundant data is the required data of the next packet.
