A method and an apparatus for synchronizing communication between nodes in a bluetooth low energy (BLE) mesh network. In the network, a node is configured to generates a seed value based on at least one of own transmission parameter, wherein the seed value indicates next data advertisement instance of corresponding node. Further, the seed value is used for communicating with other nodes (i.e. 1-hop neighbor nodes) in the network. Based on data transfer requirements of the node, the node synchronizes own data transmission and reception settings, such that no two nodes transmit data at the same time.

  • Publication number: 20160353415
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for improving Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) allocation for improved downlink scheduling. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a network node in a cellular communications network comprises transmitting a downlink assignment to a wireless device, the downlink assignment comprising an indication of whether the downlink assignment applies to a single Transmit Time Interval (TTI) or multiple consecutive TTIs, and transmitting a downlink data transmission to the wireless device during a single TTI or multiple downlink data transmissions to the wireless device during multiple consecutive TTIs according to the downlink assignment. In this manner, the network node does not need to transmit, and the wireless device does not need to receive/decode, a separate downlink assignment in each TTI. This may be beneficial to, e.g., mitigate PDCCH congestion.

  • Publication number: 20160342357
Abstract: Methods, systems, and programs are presented for managing a storage device memory. One method includes an operation for receiving a request to pin a volume stored in the storage device. The device includes disk storage and a solid state drive (SSD) cache, where pinned volumes in the storage device have all active volume data in the SSD cache. Further, the method includes an operation for determining the maximum amount of pinnable space in the SSD cache, the maximum amount of pinnable space being calculated based on the sizes of the disk storage and the SSD cache. Further, the method includes operations for determining the available pinning space, which is the maximum amount of pinnable space minus the current amount of pinned data in the SSD cache, and for granting the request to pin the volume when the available pinning space is greater than or equal to a size of the volume.

  • Publication number: 20160344445
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wired communication. In one aspect, a method relates to an approach to determine a coefficient based at least in part on a weighted average of multiple estimates of a coefficient from known (e.g., stored) coefficients. The weighted average approach may improve coefficient determination. For example, a weighted average interpolation/extrapolation approach is used to determine vectoring coefficients from known vectoring coefficients in a vectored DSL system. Such an approach may provide a significant improvement in the SNR performance of the system, for example, as compared to coefficients obtained by linear interpolation. The weighted average may be of a linear interpolation, a forward extrapolation and a backward extrapolation of the particular coefficient being determined. As such, linear interpolation, forward extrapolation and backward extrapolation may be leveraged to improve accuracy of the determined coefficient.

  • Patent number: 9483338
Abstract: In an example, network node failures may be predicted by extracting performance metrics for the network nodes from a plurality of data sources. A fail condition may be defined for the network nodes and input variables related to the fail condition for the network nodes may then be derived from the extracted performance metrics. A plurality of models may then be trained to predict the fail condition for the network nodes using a training set from the extracted performance metrics with at least one of the identified input variables. Each of the plurality of trained models may be validated using a validation set from the extracted performance metrics and may be rated according to predefined criteria. As a result, a highest rated model of the validated models may be selected to predict the fail condition for the network nodes.
