  • Publication number: 20250144073
Abstract: A novel prophylactic therapy for cancer, as well as therapy against DNA damage, inflammation and immunosuppression involves the ?-blocker carvedilol, which is a racemic mixture consisting of two enantiomers, S- and R-carvedilol, in 1:1 ratio. S-carvedilol is a ?-blocker, with a highly potent antagonizing activity against the ?-adrenergic receptors, which is the main mechanism for the drug's pharmacological activity in treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure. Carvedilol—the racemic mixture—prevents ultraviolet radiation induced skin cancer by attenuating DNA damage, reducing inflammation and reversing immunosuppression. The non-?-blocking enantiomer R-carvedilol exhibits the same cancer preventive efficacy as the racemic carvedilol, without disturbing the cardiovascular system. Both carvedilol and R-carvedilol prevent chemical carcinogen-induced lung cancer development and lung inflammation.

  • Publication number: 20250147810
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for scheduling jobs across a plurality of computational resources. Scheduling jobs (e.g., compute jobs) on a plurality of computational resources (e.g., a cluster that includes physical machines, virtual machines or both) can include assigning jobs to computational resources using respective scores for the computational resources that take into account several attributes, including central processing unit (CPU) requirements, memory requirements, and availability. That is, by generating a score that more accurately reflects the likelihood that a given computational resource is the optimal computational resource to place a given job, the resulting job schedule significantly minimizes idle time of the set of computational resources and enhances the throughput of completed jobs.

Abstract: Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for detecting contiguous defect regions of a physical object from captured images of the physical object. Images are received of a physical object from different perspectives capturing different views of the physical object. Defect regions in the images are detected containing defects on surfaces of the physical object. A determination is made of categories of the defect regions. A determination is made as to whether defect regions of a category have a common boundary to form at least one contiguous defect region for the category. A determination is made of total spatial metric of any contiguous defect regions and non-contiguous defect regions for each of the categories. Information on the total spatial metric for the categories is provided to a quality assurance module to determine a quality of the physical object.

  • Publication number: 20250147330
Abstract: A time-division multiplexed projection display is pixel shifted to produce an increased perceived display resolution. A polarizing beam splitter (PBS) divides input unpolarized display light into two orthogonal linear polarizations and directs them to two PBS arms. The PBS arms act to shift the light in synchronization with the time-multiplexed display such that a single pixel of the light engine providing the display light is converted into two or four virtual pixels, effectively increasing the perceived display resolution relative to the native resolution of the light engine. The PBS combines the light from both PBS arms into a single, unpolarized output that may then be projected into a lens or a waveguide incoupler to enable the light to propagate through a waveguide for display at a user's eye.

  • Publication number: 20250150458
Abstract: In a cloud computing environment, a cross-tenant access security measure monitors conditional access policies for changes or additions that hamper or threaten an authorized access from an assistant tenant user to a focus tenant. Some cross-tenant access security tracks role assignments to detect rogue roles, or detect hampering role changes. In some cases, focus tenant events and assistant tenant events are correlated in an audit. In some cases, the authorized access is a zero standing time bound access. In some cases, the authorized access is constrained to an IP address range, or constrained to login from a managed device, or both. In some cases, assets are excluded from managed response remediation actions. In some, managed response is modulated by product-specific Role Based Access Control. In some, repeated logins are avoided, to permit faster managed responses.
