  • Patent number: 7645509
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for producing a high-quality capillary tube used in an electrophoresis apparatus in a safe and inexpensive manner. A polymer coating on a capillary tube is converted into gas and removed through an oxidative reaction with oxygen radicals resulting from ozone decomposition, thereby providing tapered polymer coating. The material of the polymer may be polyimide.

  • Publication number: 20090087344
Abstract: By the conventional technique for dispensing more than one reagents accurately, the system is complicated and thus a compact and inexpensive system is difficult to realize. In the present invention, the pressurized dispensing system utilizing a capillary is realized, and in addition, in order to reduce the leakage of reagents different from the reagent dispensed, by forming air layers at the tips of the capillaries after dispensing, a compact, simple, inexpensive analysis apparatus is realized.

  • Publication number: 20090011413
Abstract: Colon cancer cells in a sample are screened by analyzing the amount of expression of at least 2 or more genes or products thereof selected from the group of genes listed in Tables 1 and 30. As compared to conventional method, patients having colon cancer can be detected with higher accuracy. Colon cancer cells in stool are also screened by analyzing expression of genes selected from the group of genes listed in Table 37.

  • Publication number: 20080145932
Abstract: A method and apparatus for recovering cells from stool are provided for diagnosing colorectal cancer from stool naturally voided by multiple specimens. The method includes the steps of preparing a sample of naturally voided and collected stool, to which sample a buffer solution is added, causing cancer cells in the sample from which the impurities have been removed to be adsorbed on a solid carrier, and recovering the cancer cells thus adsorbed.

  • Patent number: 7342662
Abstract: The adverse effect on measurement accuracy brought about by the transmission of light beams through portions of a liquid sample with different concentrations, i.e., a concentration distribution in the vertical direction of a container, is prevented by using semiconductor light sources of two different types with different wavelengths. The semiconductor light sources (2, 4) of two different types are housed in the same package (5) such that a detector (9) can capture the light beams emitted by the light sources after their optical axes have intersected with one another. The multiple light beams can be thus caused to pass through portions with substantially the same concentration and therefore can be detected without being influenced by the difference in concentration of the sample in the container.
