  • Patent number: 9692402
Abstract: In an example, a system and method for centering in a high-performance interconnect (HPI) are disclosed. When an interconnect is powered up from a dormant state, it may be necessary to “center” the clock signal to ensure that data are read at the correct time. A multi-phase method may be used, in which a first phase comprises a reference voltage sweep to identify an optimal reference voltage. A second phase comprises a phase sweep to identify an optimal phase. A third sweep comprises a two-dimensional “eye” phase, in which a plurality of values within a two-dimensional eye derived from the first two sweeps are tested. In each case, the optimal value is the value that results in the fewest bit error across multiple lanes. In one example, the second and third phases are performed in software, and may include testing a “victim” lane, with adjacent “aggressor” lanes having a complementary bit pattern.

  • Publication number: 20170176546
Abstract: A method includes acquiring magnetic data from a magnetometer, processing the magnetic data to perform robust calibration, and generating optimum calibration parameters using a calibration status indicator. To that end, the method includes generating a calibration status indicator as a function of time elapsed since a last calibration and variation in total magnetic field in previously stored magnetic data, detecting anomalies, and extracting a sparse magnetic data set using comparison between the previously stored magnetic data and the magnetic data. Calibration parameters are generated for the magnetometer using a calibration method as a function of the magnetic data set. The calibration parameters are stored based on performing a validation and stability check on the calibration parameters, and weighted with the previously stored calibration parameters to produce weighted calibration parameters.

  • Publication number: 20170168907
Abstract: Allocating resources during failure recovery is provided. A set of one or more service level agreement tiers are identified corresponding to a client workload that was being processed by a failed computing environment. A highest level tier is selected in the set of one or more service level agreement tiers. Recovery resources are allocated in a failover computing environment to the highest level tier sufficient to meet a service level agreement associated with the highest level tier. The highest level tier is recovered in the set of one or more service level agreement tiers using the recovery resources in the failover computing environment. In response to recovering the highest level tier, tier resources of the highest level tier are reduced to a steady state level of processing in the failover computing environment.

  • Patent number: 9680742
Abstract: A circuit operates to manage transmittal of packets in a network packet processor. The circuit includes a packet descriptor manager (PDM), a packet scheduling engine (PSE), and a packet engines and buffering module (PEB). The PDM generates a metapacket and a descriptor from a command signal, where the command signal identifies a packet to be transmitted by the circuit. The PSE determines an order in which to transmit the packet among a number of packets, where the PSE determines the order based on information indicated in the metapacket. Once the packet is scheduled for transmission, the PEB performs processing operations on the packet to produce a processed packet based on instructions indicated in the descriptor. The PEB then causes the processed packet to be transmitted toward the destination.

  • Patent number: 9680764
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed generally to systems and methods for Diameter load balancing. In some embodiments, an intermediary device may receive a diameter connection request from a client that includes a CER. The intermediary device may initiate a connection with a server of a plurality of servers and place the server protocol control block in a reuse pool. Responsive to opening the connection with the server, the intermediary device may forward the received CER. The intermediary device may then receive a CEA message from the server and establish an AVP-based persistent connection. The intermediary device may modify the received CEA message, and then forward the message to the client. When the intermediary device receives a diameter message from a client, the intermediary device may match an AVP of the message with an AVP associated with a persistent server connection, and forward the diameter message to the corresponding server.
