Abstract: A method for determining an operating set point for a combined cycle power plant, the method includes: simulating the operation of the power plant; correcting the simulation of the operation of the power plant; optimizing the simulation of the operation by simulating the operation at different operating settings and selecting at least one of the operating settings as being optimal, and generating the operating set point based on the optimized simulation of the power plant.

Abstract: Techniques for estimated compound probability distribution are described. An apparatus may comprise a configuration component, perturbation component, sample generation controller, an aggregation component, a distribution fitting component, and statistics generation component. The configuration component may be operative to receive a compound model specification and candidate distribution definition. The perturbation component may be operative to generate a plurality of models from the compound model specification. The sample generation controller may be operative to initiate the generation of a plurality of compound model samples from each of the plurality of models. The distribution fitting component may generate parameter values for the candidate distribution definition based on the compound model samples. The statistics generation component may generate approximated aggregate statistics. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: In some embodiments, color and contrast enhancement video processing may be done in one shot instead of adjusting one of color and contrast enhancement, then the other, and then going back to the first one to readjust because of the second adjustment. In some embodiments, global lightness adjustment, local contrast enhancement, and saturation enhancement may be done at the same time and in parallel. Lightness adjustment improves visibility of details for generally dark or generally light images without changing intended lighting conditions in the original shot, and is used to enhance the range of color/saturation enhancement. Local contrast enhancement done in parallel improves visual definition of objects and textures and thus local contrast and perceived sharpness.

Abstract: Techniques for estimated compound probability distribution are described. An apparatus may comprise a configuration component, perturbation component, sample generation controller, an aggregation component, a distribution fitting component, and statistics generation component. The configuration component may be operative to receive a compound model specification and candidate distribution definition. The perturbation component may be operative to generate a plurality of models from the compound model specification. The sample generation controller may be operative to initiate the generation of a plurality of compound model samples from each of the plurality of models. The distribution fitting component may generate parameter values for the candidate distribution definition based on the compound model samples. The statistics generation component may generate approximated aggregate statistics. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A circuit breaker and a method of developing the current limiting circuit breaker are described. The circuit breaker includes a carrier assembly to supply current to a circuit through a fixed contact in a first operative state. The carrier assembly includes a latch pin to move responsive to a force transferred to the latch pin as a result of a fault condition in the circuit, a cam assembly in contact with the latch pin to move responsive to movement of the latch pin, and a movable contact coupled to the cam assembly, the movable contact breaking the physical contact with the fixed contact to put the circuit breaker in a second operative state. The circuit breaker also includes a mechanism to move the carrier assembly responsive to a signal indicative of the fault condition to put the circuit breaker in a third operative state.

Abstract: A circuit breaker and a method of forming a current limiting circuit breaker are described. The circuit breaker includes a carrier assembly to supply current to a circuit through a fixed contact in a first operative state, a movable contact in physical contact with the fixed contact of the circuit, and a contact arm coupled to the movable contact, the contact arm including a pivot point. The contact arm moves about the pivot point responsive to a force transferred as a result of a fault condition in the circuit and the movable contact breaks the physical contact with the fixed contact of the circuit to put the circuit breaker in a second operative state. The circuit breaker also includes a mechanism to move the carrier assembly to put the circuit breaker in a third operative state responsive to a signal indicative of the fault condition.

Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for improved communication network setup utilizing extended terminals are presented. Aspects of the method may comprise configuring a wireless Ethernet terminal functioning as a client station by a configurator via a network. The configured wireless Ethernet terminal may wirelessly receives information from a wireless station, and communicate the wirelessly received information to at least one of a plurality of wired stations via at least one of a plurality of corresponding wired interfaces. Aspects of the system may comprise a collocated device functioning as a configurator that configures a wireless Ethernet terminal functioning as a client station via a network. The configured wireless Ethernet terminal may wirelessly receives information from a wireless station, and communicate the wirelessly received information to at least one of a plurality of wired stations via at least one of a plurality of corresponding wired interfaces.

Abstract: A cloud statistics server generates statistics for a cloud service based on an identified data item and an identified operation. The cloud service may include various computing nodes and storage nodes. The cloud statistics may include expected completion times for the identified operation and the identified data item with respect to each of the computing nodes. A computing node may be selected to execute the identified operation based on the expected completion times. The generated statistics may be generated by the cloud statistics server using a network topology associated with the data item that is based on the latencies or expected transfer times between the various storage nodes and computing nodes, and a replication strategy used by the cloud service. The topology may be implemented as a directed graph with edge weights corresponding to expected transfer times between each node.

Abstract: A pharmaceutical tablet for oral administration once every 12 hours is provided. The tablet includes a first active agent that is a tri-oxy active agent, a second active agent, and a release rate controlling non-ionic oxyl-containing hydrophilic polymer. The tablet is a matrix tablet and a single-dose administration of one or more tablets to a subject under fasted conditions provides a mean Cm˜ for each of the first active agent and the second active agent that is 70% to 135% of a respective mean Cm˜ provided by administering an immediate release oral dosage form to a subject under fasted conditions every 4 to 6 hours over a 12 hour time period, wherein cumulative dosage amounts administered over the 12 hour time period of each active agent is equivalent to the respective amount of each active agent in the pharmaceutical tablet.

Abstract: The present disclosure is drawn to pharmaceutical compositions and oral dosage capsules containing testosterone undecanoate, as well as related methods. The capsule includes a capsule shell and a capsule fill. The capsule fill can include a solubilizer and about 14 wt % to about 35 wt % testosterone undecanoate based on the total capsule fill. The oral dosage capsule is such that when a single oral administration to a male subject of one or more capsules with a total testosterone undecanoate daily dose of about 350 mg to about 650 mg it provides a ratio of serum testosterone Cmax to serum testosterone Cave of about 2.7 or less. In yet another embodiment, a method for providing a serum concentration of testosterone within a target serum testosterone concentration Cave range for a male subject is provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides solid pharmaceutical compositions for improved delivery of a wide variety of pharmaceutical active ingredients contained therein or separately administered. In one embodiment, the solid pharmaceutical composition includes a solid carrier, the solid carrier including a substrate and an encapsulation coat on the substrate. The encapsulation coat can include different combinations of pharmaceutical active ingredients, hydrophilic surfactant, lipophilic surfactants and triglycerides. In another embodiment, the solid pharmaceutical composition includes a solid carrier, the solid carrier being formed of different combinations of pharmaceutical active ingredients, hydrophilic surfactants, lipophilic surfactants and triglycerides. The compositions of the present invention can be used for improved delivery of hydrophilic or hydrophobic pharmaceutical active ingredients, such as drugs, nutritional agents, cosmeceuticals and diagnostic agents.

The virtual data center (VDC) includes a plurality of resource groups. Each one of the resource groups includes one or more VDC resources. Each one of the VDC resources is associated with a respective set of resource group specification parameters. The architecture management interface enables an architectural layout of the one or more VDC resources to be displayed. The architectural layout includes a visual depiction of the one or more VDC resources of each one of the resource groups. An arrangement of the visual depiction is dependent upon the respective set of resource group specification parameters.

Abstract: A method for locally performing a well test may include receiving, at a processor, data associated with a flow of hydrocarbons directed into an output pipe via a multi-selector valve configured to couple to one or more hydrocarbon wells. The method may also include determining one or more virtual flow rates of the liquid and gas components based on the data. The method may then send a signal to a separator configured to couple to the output pipe, wherein the signal is configured to cause the separator to perform a well test for a respective well when the virtual flow rates of the liquid and gas components do not substantially match well test data associated with the respective well, wherein the well test data comprises one or more flow rates of the liquid and gas components determined during a previous well test for the respective well.

Abstract: An approach for regional firewall clustering for optimal state-sharing of different sites in a virtualized/networked (e.g., cloud) computing environment is provided. In a typical embodiment, each firewall in a given region is informed of its peer firewalls via a registration process with a centralized server. Each firewall opens up an Internet protocol (IP)-based communication channel to each of its peers in the region to share state table information. This allows for asymmetrical firewall flows through the network and allows routing protocols to ascertain the best path to a given destination without having to take firewall placement into consideration.

Abstract: Automated deactivation of service to enable effective resource reusability in a computing system, may include receiving a request to destroy a virtual machine, the virtual machine running in a virtual data center comprising one or more software components allocated for servicing a customer. In response, a provisioning module may be notified to remove the virtual machine. Based on the number of resources determined to be left as available, deactivation of pending actions on the virtual machine may be performed at the time the virtual machine is being removed or as an automatic scheduled job to be performed at a scheduled time.
