  • Patent number: 7659905
Abstract: A system and method of pre-fetching data in a network includes displaying first data to a user, the first data being upstream of other data in a data flow. Before receiving a request from the user to view the other data, retrieving at least some of the other data and storing the retrieved other data in a memory device. After a request is received from the user to display the other data, using the stored data for the display to the user.

  • Patent number: 7657234
Abstract: To provide “transparent” broadcast services for a multi-mode wireless device capable of communicating with multiple wireless communication networks, a composite set of pertinent parameters for broadcast messages used by the multiple networks is defined. The parameters of the broadcast message for each network are mapped to corresponding parameters in the composite set. The composite set of parameters is used for processing and displaying broadcast messages received from the multiple networks. A broadcast message for each network (e.g., a CBS message in GSM or a broadcast SMS message in CDMA) is received and processed in accordance with the parameters of the message and filtering configurations applicable for the network. The parameters of the broadcast message are mapped to corresponding parameters in the composite set. The broadcast message is further processed and displayed based on the parameters in the composite set.

  • Publication number: 20100016996
Abstract: This document discusses, among other things, a user interface capable of resolving interactions between programmable parameters for operation of a personal medical device. Programming these devices is a difficult task when many parameters are involved. The medical device interface attempts to reduce and minimize constraint violations between interdependent parameters using an initial set of parameter values supplied by user (typically a physician) input, and constraint violations describing invalid parameter values. A user is given the option to select one or more parameters to remain constant. If possible, a set of parameter values with less egregious constraint violations is displayed to the user. A user is prompted to accept the set of parameter values and program the medical device.

The second valve member includes a second step and a second orifice adjacent the second step. The second valve member is movable relative to the first valve member between an open position, in which the first orifice is fluidly connected the second orifice, and a closed position, in which the first orifice is substantially fluidly disconnected from the second orifice. The first and second steps are fluidly connected to the second orifice and substantially fluidly disconnected from the first orifice when the second valve member is in the closed position, and the first and second steps are fluidly connected to the first and second orifices when the second valve member is in the open position.

  • Publication number: 20100015634
Abstract: Devices and methods incorporate lysis agents into a point-of-care testing device. The sample is loaded, and then the sample travels until it encounters a lysis agent. The lysis agent is preferably pre-loaded onto the collection device. In a preferred embodiment, the initially lysis agent is localized between the sample application zone and the conjugate zone. The lysis agent is preferably soluble or miscible in the sample transport liquid, and the lysis agent is solubilized and activated upon contact with the sample transport liquid. The sample transport liquid then contains both lysis agent in solution or suspension and sample components in suspension. Any lysis-susceptible components in a sample, then being exposed in suspension to the lysis agent, are themselves lysed in situ. The running buffer then carries the analyte, including any lysis-freed components, to the detection zone.

  • Patent number: 7647629
Abstract: A host operating in a managed environment intercepts a call from a managed caller to a particular callee and determines whether the call is permissible according to the host's prior configuration of a plurality of callees. The particular callee, which provides access to a resource that the host can be protecting, can have been previously configured by the host to always allow the call to be made, to never allow the call to be made, or to allow the call to be made based upon the degree to which the host trusts the managed caller.

  • Publication number: 20100005448
Abstract: A communications protocol interface is configured as being divisible into a core portion and an extensible portion. The extensible portion of the communications protocol interface is further configured to be customized in scope so that each network element can communicate a unique and optionally small, subset of actual interoperable data that corresponds to at least a portion of a larger defined data set. A software generator program is configured to generate a set of extensible source code that operates upon the subset of actual data and that directs the execution of the extensible portion of the communications protocol interface for a particular network element.

  • Patent number: 7642683
Abstract: A self-regulating permanent magnet device has a first rotor segment and second rotor segment, each supporting a set of permanent magnets, wherein the position of the second rotor segment relative to the first rotor segment is modified based on the speed of the self-regulating permanent magnet device. By modifying the position of the second rotor segment relative to the first rotor segment, the alignment between their respective sets of permanent magnets, and therefore, the electromotive force (emf) generated in the stator coils is regulated. The position of the second rotor segment is defined by the connection of a torsion spring between the first rotor segment and second rotor segment and a reactionary torque device connected to the second rotor segment. The torsion spring creates a spring force that acts to maintain the alignment between the first rotor segment and the second rotor segment.
