  • Publication number: 20090252118
Abstract: Techniques for supporting handoff of terminals between a packet-switched network and a circuit-switched network are described. In an aspect, handoff between packet-switched and circuit-switched networks may be facilitated by a designated network entity in the packet-switched network. The designated network entity may interface with both the packet-switched network and the circuit-switched network, perform circuit-switched call origination, and perform handoff procedure. In one design, a first terminal may communicate with the packet-switched network for a packet-switched call with a second terminal. The first terminal may initiate handoff to the circuit-switched network via the designated network entity. The first terminal may perform handoff from the packet-switched network to the circuit-switched network based on an inter-MSC handoff procedure. The first terminal may then communicate with the circuit-switched network for the circuit-switched call with the second terminal after the handoff.

  • Publication number: 20090249821
Abstract: A refrigerator includes a main body defining a storage space therein and a door for opening and closing the storage space. The refrigerator comprises a water conduit for directing water supplied from an external water source to the main body of the refrigerator. An inlet valve distributes the water supplied from the water conduit into a hot water conduit and a separate cold water conduit. A cold water tank is mounted to one of the main body and the door for cooling the water supplied through the cold water conduit and then storing the cooled water therein. A hot water tube is mounted to one of the main body and the door for receiving the water supplied through the hot water conduit. The hot water tube includes a heater operably installed within the hot water tube and in direct contact with the water therein. The heater generates heat through the application of electric power thereto to heat the water within the hot water tube to a predetermined temperature.

  • Patent number: 7599967
Abstract: Techniques for reducing commit latency in a database system having a primary database system and a standby database system that is receiving a stream of redo data items from the primary. The standby sends an acknowledgment for a received item of redo data before the standby writes the redo data item to a redo log for the stream. When a no more redo event occurs in the standby, the standby sets a “no data lost flag” in the redo log if the stream of redo data items has no gaps and all of the redo data items received in the standby have been written to the redo log. The database system may operate in a first mode in which an acknowledgment is sent as just described and a second mode in which an acknowledgment is sent after the redo data item has been written to the redo log.

  • Publication number: 20090248885
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for controlling the transfer of terminal server data. In some embodiments, contending request to send terminal server data are resolved by a flow control module situated between a terminal server protocol and a transport/network protocol. The flow control module utilizes channel priorities along with amounts of previously sent data per channel to determine how to distribute bandwidth in a relatively controlled manner between contending channels. The flow control module can be configured to intercept communication between terminal server protocol and a transport/network protocol to facilitate bandwidth distribution. In other embodiments, data is simultaneously sent over multiple channels of terminal server connection. A first write operation obtains a lock on a corresponding channel but the channel lock does not prevent write operations on other channels.

  • Publication number: 20090245573
Abstract: A camera system comprises an image capturing device, object detection module, object tracking module, and match classifier. The object detection module receives image data and detects objects appearing in one or more of the images. The object tracking module temporally associates instances of a first object detected in a first group of the images. The first object has a first signature representing features of the first object. The match classifier matches object instances by analyzing data derived from the first signature of the first object and a second signature of a second object detected in a second image. The second signature represents features of the second object derived from the second image. The match classifier determine whether the second signature matches the first signature. A training process automatically configures the match classifier using a set of possible object features.

  • Publication number: 20090245430
Abstract: A configurable decoder within a receiver (for example, within a wireless communication device) includes numerous decoders. In one mode, the multiple decoders are used to decode different sub-packets of a packet. When one decoder completes decoding the last sub-packet assigned to it of the packet, then that decoder generates a packet done indication. A control circuit receives the packet done indications, and when all the decoders have generated packet done indications then the control circuit initiates an action. In one example, the action is the interrupting of a processor. The processor responds by reading status information from the control circuit, thereby resetting the interrupt. End-of-packet markers are usable to generate packet done indications and to generate EOP interrupts. Similarly, end-of-group markers are usable to generate group done indications and to generate EOG interrupts. The decoder block is configurable to process sub-packets of a packet using either one or multiple decoders.

  • Patent number: 7591424
Abstract: Various technologies and techniques are disclosed that improve an ecommerce payment process. The system receives a selection from a user to perform a checkout operation for items in a shopping cart. The system receives a payment type selection from a user and creates an encrypted packet of order information. The user is redirected to a URL of a third party payment processing system that supports the selected payment type for the user's country. The encrypted information is posted securely to the payment system and includes details standard across payment types. A user interface theme identifier is included to allow the third party system to provide a consistent user interface. The third party system accepts the standard details in the encrypted packet and implements the payment type specific details. The ecommerce system receives notification that the payment process succeeded and provisioning resumes by providing the purchased items to the user.

  • Patent number: 7591039
Abstract: A light weight floor sweeper has a sweeper head mounted to an elongated handle by means of a universal pivot or universal joint which allows the floor sweeper head to easily pivot about the handle in any direction to pick up debris under over hanging cabinets or under furniture. The floor sweeper has sweeping brushes mounted around all four sides of the sweeper head to provide sweeping action when the sweeper is moved in any direction. There are corner brushes extending out from the sides of the sweeper head that reach into corners to sweep debris toward the main sweeping brushes. All of the brushes are powered by a small electric motor that drives the brushes to direct the debris into a dust-receiving tray in the sweeper head. A gasket arrangement keeps dust and debris out of the gear housings located at each of the corners of the sweeper head regardless of the direction in which the sweeper head is moving.

  • Publication number: 20090234968
Abstract: In one embodiment, a first request is received for a probe link from a client that has downloaded a page. The request is received from an application. A test may be performed to determine a server that could optimally service a content request from the client. After receiving the request, the content router sends a re-direct to the client where the re-direct causes the client to follow the re-direct to the server. The server then sends a re-direct back to the client, which the client follows by sending a second request to the content router. The second request is associated with the client and the round-trip time is calculated for the server. It is then determined if the location for the server should be designated as the content deliverer to the client based on the calculated round-trip time.

  • Publication number: 20090234965
Abstract: A technique for selecting a media streaming engine, such as a stream server, to source a media stream to a client involves receiving feedback information from a client that indicates a quality of service experienced by the client and then selecting a media streaming engine, from a set of media streaming engines, in response to the feedback information. In an embodiment, the feedback information is provided in Real-Time Control Protocol (RTCP) messages. For example, the RTCP messages are Receiver Report (RR) messages that contain packet loss and/or inter-arrival jitter information. Feedback information such as packet loss and/or inter-arrival jitter information represents the actual quality of service experienced by a client for a media stream. Because a media streaming engine is selected based on the actual quality of service experienced by a client, the selection process can be configured to optimize the quality of service of the media streaming.
