  • Publication number: 20200065354
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a system, method, and computer program for real-time and computationally efficient calculation of a recommended value range for a quote variable, such as price, discount, volume, or closing time. The system uses the highest-density interval (HDI) of probability density function (PDF) as a recommended or suggested value range for a quote variable. PDFs for the quote variable are precomputed for groups of related inputs, and each PDF is summarized as an array of discrete points. A dimension reduction technique is applied to the PDF inputs in both the training and real-time (non-training) phases to reduce the number of possible combinations of PDFs. During a quote-creation process, a PDF look-up table enables the system to efficiently identify an applicable PDF from the group of precomputed PDFs based on reduced input values.

  • Publication number: 20200037663
Abstract: A heat-not-burn tobacco-type device for heating a cigarette has a heater and a vaporizer. The heater heats the cigarette at a heating temperature not greater than 450° C. for discouraging formation of harmful substances, such as tar and carbon monoxide, during heating the cigarette. The vaporizer is used to vaporize a liquid for producing smoke and/or for enhancing a taste of the cigarette. The vaporizer and the heater are arranged to work simultaneously or independently to generate two bodies of aerosol, wherein these two bodies of aerosol pass through two independent gas channels and meet together for a smoker to inhale thereafter. Hence, the device not only meets visual needs of the smoker in the smoke and/or enhances the taste of the cigarette, but also discourages generation of the harmful substance.

  • Publication number: 20190370024
Abstract: The presentation of data models (a story) on a mobile device having limited memory and processing resources includes instantiating widgets one at a time for interaction with a user. When the user completes their interaction, the instance of that widget is removed from memory (destroyed); widgets are therefore stateless. A context framework that manages the application of filters to widgets that comprise the story. When a filter is applied, widget snapshot images used to display corresponding widgets in a collection view can be updated to reflect state changes of affected corresponding widgets so that users can see the state changes despite the widget being stateless.

  • Publication number: 20190357593
Abstract: An electronic cigarette for smoldering tobacco materials housed in a cigarette cartridge has a heater, and first and second heat conductors. The heater generates heat by using a resistance wire, or via ionizing air, e.g., an electric arc generator. The first heat conductor, which receives heat from the heater, directly contacts an outer surface of the cigarette cartridge for heating the tobacco materials through the cigarette cartridge's outer surface. The second heat conductor penetrates into a center of the cigarette cartridge, and has a heating element for heating the tobacco materials via the cigarette cartridge's center. Hence, the tobacco materials are heated from both inside and outside of the cigarette cartridge simultaneously, thereby smoldering the tobacco materials more completely and resulting in a better taste. During ionizing the air, the heater may further generate a gaseous air-purifying agent for air purification, e.g., negative ions generated by the electric arc generator.

  • Publication number: 20190338362
Abstract: This invention provides methods for non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) for determining the probability of aneuploidy in a fetus. The present invention comprises quantification and analysis of autosomal single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) using platforms capable of absolute or relative quantification to determine the probability of aneuploidy in the fetus. In one embodiment, the present methods comprise obtaining a blood sample containing cell-free DNA from a pregnant woman, using the extracted DNA to prepare a library of nucleic acids encompassing a plurality of biallelic autosomal single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of interest (i.e., target SNPs) using a target enrichment approach, performing targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS) using the library prepared, obtaining the allele counts of the target SNPs in the cell-free DNA and determining the probability of aneuploidy in a fetus.

  • Patent number: 10392666
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses can determine and use methylation profiles of various tissues and samples. Examples are provided. A methylation profile can be deduced for fetal/tumor tissue based on a comparison of plasma methylation (or other sample with cell-free DNA) to a methylation profile of the mother/patient. A methylation profile can be determined for fetal/tumor tissue using tissue-specific alleles to identify DNA from the fetus/tumor when the sample has a mixture of DNA. A methylation profile can be used to determine copy number variations in genome of a fetus/tumor. Methylation markers for a fetus have been identified via various techniques. The methylation profile can be determined by determining a size parameter of a size distribution of DNA fragments, where reference values for the size parameter can be used to determine methylation levels. Additionally, a methylation level can be used to determine a level of cancer.
