  • Patent number: 4795980
Abstract: A device for monitoring short circuits and overloads in electronic proximity switches of a transmission line. The device is a testing circuit which includes a current pickup which measures the current in the output circuit of a respective proximity switch which controls the output current flow by switching off or limiting the output current flow. The device also includes a circuit which provides a testing cycle for the current measurement with first and second delay times which control the output current during a short circuit or overload and a waiting time, substantially longer than the first delay time, between the start of two successive delay times. The length of the first delay time is chosen with respect to the time constant of the respective transmission line to be connected.

  • Patent number: 4676215
Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus and a method for controlling the operating characteristic quantities of an internal combustion engine, with a characteristic set up with operating quantities of the internal combustion engine for pre-control of engine variables influencing the operating characteristic quantities, and with a control arrangement, responsive to at least one engine variable, for correctively influencing the characteristic values. The values stored in the characteristic field and selected in dependence on operating characteristic quantities of the internal combustion engine are modified via the control arrangement to correctively influence the characteristic values. In addition, the characteristic values lying within the defined region of the characteristic value modified are also changed in dependence on the modification of this particular characteristic value.

  • Patent number: 4674459
Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus for metering an air-fuel mixture to an internal combustion engine. The apparatus includes a characteristic field set up with operating quantities of the internal combustion engine for anticipatorily controlling engine variables that influence the air-fuel mixture and a control arrangement, responsive to at least one engine variable, for correctively influencing the characteristic field values. The characteristic field values are stored in the characteristic field and selected in dependence on operating quantities of the internal combustion engine. The characteristic field values are modified by means of different control methods to correctively influence the same. More specifically, the control methods include a control to a minimal specific fuel consumption in the lower and part-load ranges as well as a control to maximum power in the upper load range as may be necessary.

  • Patent number: 4643219
Abstract: A valve for regulating the passage of a fluid through pipes, in particular pipes having a large diameter, has a valve housing and a valve unit. The valve unit includes a spindle movable in vertical direction in the housing and is connected to a valve disk which reciprocates in a flow cylinder having a perforated casing. The spindle is further connected to a lifting cylinder which provides the movement of the spindle and the valve disk between a shutoff position and an open position. The valve unit of the valve is insertable into the housing and removable therefrom in its entirety without necessitating a dismantling of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4481974
Abstract: A safety valve has movable and immovable valve elements, and a friction unit arranged therebetween for damping vibrations, wherein the friction unit has a plurality of friction members movable radially relative to a valve axis, a pressing member arranged to move the friction members so that their friction surfaces are pressed against a friction countersurface of a movable valve element of the movable valve means and for abutment against a stationary abutment member at their side facing toward a valve closing member, and a pretensioned auxiliary spring acting upon the friction members at their side facing away from the valve closing member and in a valve closing direction, wherein the auxiliary spring has such force and such a smaller resistance that in the event of seizing of the friction members with the movable valve element, the auxiliary spring is compressed within a predetermined opening pressure which does not considerably exceed a response pressure over approximately a valve stroke.

  • Patent number: 4437154
Abstract: A device is proposed for generating control signals with a primary and an auxiliary control unit, having an error indication circuit layout and a subsequently disposed switchover device from the primary to the auxiliary control unit. The auxiliary control unit operates in parallel with the primary control unit and emits monitoring signals spaced apart in time from those of the primary control unit, which do not yet influence the consumer. If the device is put to use as an injection signal generator in internal combustion engines, then it is recommended that the auxiliary control unit emit its output signal either one cycle later, or 180.degree. of crankshaft angle later, than does the primary control unit. The occurrence of the individual signals can be detected and evaluated. Upon the appearance of an error, the former auxiliary control circuit can then be switched over to become the primry control circuit; in that event, then a reversal must then be effected in the times when the individual pulses occur.

  • Patent number: 4351167
Abstract: The disclosure concerns an elastic coupling of disc construction. The coupling has a central disc which is positioned within an inner chamber that is defined by two side discs, and the side discs are joined together at their peripheries. The discs are attached at a hub at their axes. The side discs are of greater circumference than the central disc. A projection extending in from the side discs toward the central disc has circumferentially opposite abutment surface sides. In the central disc, a recess is defined into which the aforesaid projection extends. The recess has opposed abutment surface sidewalls, and each of these abutment surface sidewalls is opposed to a respective abutment surface side on the projection.
