  • Publication number: 20200073802
Abstract: An information management system is described herein that implements a data re-stubbing process. For example, a stub may have been previously migrated from one computing system to a network-accessible folder or to another computing system. The stub may be transparent to the user such that the user perceives the stub as being the actual data (e.g., when displayed). When a user selects the stub, the actual data may be retrieved and replace the stub. After some time, the actual data can be re-stubbed if not in use. If the actual data has not been modified since replacing the original stub, then the actual data can be replaced with the original stub. Otherwise, if the actual data has been modified since replacing the original stub, a new stub can be generated and replace the actual data.

  • Publication number: 20200073574
Abstract: An information management system is described herein that implements a slim migration of backup or other secondary copy data. For example, upon receiving a request to migrate primary data corresponding to secondary copy data from one computing system to a network-accessible folder or to another computing system, the information management system can migrate at least a portion of the data as primary data and/or at least a portion of the data as stubs. The use of the stub may be transparent to the user such that the user perceives the stub as being the actual data (e.g., when displayed). Because the stub identifies data included in the secondary copy of data, but is not the actual data itself, a stub may have a smaller file size than the actual data, providing increased data migration speeds.

  • Publication number: 20200060728
Abstract: A tool for implementing a correction plan in an external fixation frame having a plurality of adjustment elements or screws, for example, generally includes a driver, a motor, a controller, and a processor. The driver is adapted to engage and rotate each of the screws. The motor is coupled the driver and adapted to rotate the driver. The controller is connected to the motor and configured to control operation of the motor. The controller may determine whether the tool is engaged with a strut and which strut is engaged, and may determine how much the strut has rotated, taking into account intentional or unintentional manual rotation of the tool. The tool may also include features to help ensure proper engagement between the drive and the strut. Variations may be provided in which similar functionality is provided with manual rotation of a motorless tool.

  • Publication number: 20200065308
Abstract: An action framework system provides context-based actions in association with a source application. The source application detects selection of a content element presented by the source application. The content element is associated with an application identifier identifying a target application and an action identifier identifying an operation to be executed by the target application on the content element. The target application identified by the application identifier is executed to perform the operation identified by the action identifier on the content element, responsive to detection of the selection of the content element. In one implementation, the source application is a search feature providing different contexts of search results (e.g., from a local file system search, a local application content search, a Web search, a remote application content search).

  • Patent number: 10572444
Abstract: An information management system according to certain aspects may determine whether storage operations will work prior to executing them. The system may check various factors or parameters relating to a storage policy to verify whether the storage policy will work at runtime without actually executing the policy. Some examples of factors can include: availability of primary storage devices, availability of secondary storage devices, license availability for performing that operation, user credentials for connecting to primary and/or second storage devices, available storage capacity, connectivity to storage devices, etc. The system may also check whether a particular system configuration is supported in connection with storage operations. The result of the determination can be provided in the form of a report summarizing any problems found with the storage policy. The report can include recommended courses of action or solutions for resolving any identified issues.

  • Patent number: 10566971
Abstract: A proximity sensor or switch having a sensing coil, an oscillator connected to the coil, a comparator connected to the oscillator, a reference voltage module connected to the comparator, and an output driver connected to the comparator. The voltage module may incorporate a resistor having an end connected to a high side of a power source, and a digital potentiometer having a first end connected to another end of the resistor and to the comparator, and having a second end connected to a ground side of the power source. The digital potentiometer may have a resistance that is varied with a signal. A variation of the resistance for the digital potentiometer may result in a change of a voltage from the reference voltage module which further changes a switching distance of the proximity switch to a predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20200034241
Abstract: The disclosed techniques enable browsing of data items that are stored in a backup storage system in a backup format. A search query from a user is received where the search query is for a data item stored in a data storage system, such as a tape drive, a disk array, or a cloud-based storage system. The system may use an index to look up a data format of the data item. To present the data to the user, the system may perform a restoration operation using two or more staging operations to convert the data format to a format that can be presented to the user.

  • Patent number: 10547678
Abstract: A stand-alone, network accessible data storage device, such as a filer or NAS device, is capable of transferring data objects based on portions of the data objects. The device transfers portions of files, folders, and other data objects from a data store within the device to external secondary storage based on certain criteria, such as time-based criteria, age-based criteria, and so on. A portion may be one or more blocks of a data object, or one or more chunks of a data object, or other segments that combine to form or store a data object. For example, the device identifies one or more blocks of a data object that satisfy a certain criteria, and migrates the identified blocks to external storage, thereby freeing up storage space within the device. The device may determine that a certain number of blocks of a file have not been modified or called by a file system in a certain time period, and migrate these blocks to secondary storage.
