  • Patent number: 10397095
Abstract: Access-side loop mitigation may be provided. First, a first edge device may determine that a duplicate host exists on a network. Then the first edge device may detect a loop in response to determining that the duplicate host exists on the network. Detecting the loop may comprise sending a message on a plurality of access-side ports of the first edge device and then receiving, in response to sending the message on the plurality of access-side ports of the first edge device, a response on a first access-side port of the plurality of access-side ports of the first edge device. Next, the first edge device may mitigate the detected loop in response to receiving the response.

  • Patent number: 10389810
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein address the need to more efficiently backup a network-based storage environment that may be remote from a primary storage environment. For example, embodiments herein can provide a more efficient backup of a storage managed by a third-party entity. To improve the backup process, embodiments herein may optimize the number of scanning threads that are used to identify files that are to be backed up by, for example, analyzing the characteristics of the network and/or the network storage system to determine a number of scanning threads that will enable faster scanning of the network storage system while at the same time not overburden or be slowed down by a network between the network-based storage environment and the primary storage environment.

Abstract: A method for fabricating a semiconductor structure includes providing a substrate. The method further includes implanting the substrate to form a high-voltage well region having a first conductivity type. The method further includes forming a pair of drain drift regions in the high-voltage well region. The pair of drain drift regions are on the front side of the substrate, and the pair of drain drift regions have a second conductivity type opposite to the first conductivity type. The method further includes forming a gate electrode embedded in the high-voltage well region. The gate electrode is positioned between the pair of drain drift regions and laterally spaced apart from the pair of drain drift regions.

  • Patent number: 10380072
Abstract: An information management system can manage the removal of data block entries in a deduplicated data store using working copies of the data block entries residing in a local data store of a secondary storage computing device. The system can use the working copies to identify data blocks for removal. Once the deduplication database is updated with the changes to the working copies (e.g., using a transaction based update scheme), the system can query the deduplication database for the database entries identified for removal. Once identified, the system can remove the database entries identified for pruning and/or the corresponding deduplication data blocks from secondary storage.

  • Patent number: 10379988
Abstract: Data storage systems monitor the performance of data storage operations on a granular level and compile the information for presenting to a user. The system measures the time of execution for individual granular stages of the storage operation and in response to the monitoring results, automatically adjust parameters to optimize performance. Further, the system performs a performance test by simulating the data storage operation, but may not actually write the data to the secondary storage medium.

  • Publication number: 20190243726
Abstract: In certain systems disclosed herein, a distributed data monitoring and management system is provided that can replicate a distributed storage environment. The distributed data monitoring and management system can intelligently and automatically configure data access nodes to form a structure that matches the distributed storage environment. By matching the structure of the distributed storage environment, the distributed structure of the data may be maintained, enabling the data to be backed up from and/or restored to the distributed storage environment and/or migrated to another distributed storage environment without altering the distribution of the data. Further, embodiments herein enable the transfer of data from a non-distributed environment to a distributed storage environment. Thus, in some cases, an entity can migrate data from a local storage structure to a network-based distributed storage structure.

  • Publication number: 20190243636
Abstract: Methods, systems and non-transitory computer readable media involves receiving information of a new library from a patch management repository. A symbolic link to the new shared library is created and a request to an application process to replace a shared library is communicated. To replace the shared library, the application process periodically checks reference state of the shared library till it reaches a free-state. When the shared library reaches the free-state, the application process unloads the shared library from memory space and loads the new shared library to the memory space. The application process continues performing one or more pre-define functions during the replacement of the shared library.

  • Publication number: 20190243718
Abstract: The data storage system according to certain aspects can implement partial file restore, where only a portion of the secondary copy of a file is restored. Such portion may be designated by one or more application offsets for the file. The system may provide an in-chunk index that includes mapping information between the application offsets and the secondary copy offsets. Chunks may refer to logical data units in which secondary copies are stored, and the in-chunk index for a chunk may be stored in secondary storage with the chunk. Because the mapping information may not be provided at a fixed interval, the system can search through application offsets in the in-chunk index to locate the secondary copy offset corresponding to the portion application offset(s). In this manner, the system may restore the designated portion of the secondary copy in a fast and efficient manner by using the in-chunk index.

  • Publication number: 20190236215
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for implementing a distributed, hierarchical, and iterative data graph processing strategy are disclosed. A large data graph is partitioned and the partitions are clustered. Sets of keys and hashes are generated for each cluster and distributed to a plurality of processing machines. The processing machines recreate the partitions, based on received hashes and keys of the clusters of the first partitions, and the graph. Thereafter, the partitioning, clustering and processing is repeatable for the recreated graphs. The disclosed strategy enables processing of large and dynamic data graphs, including bipartite query-Uniform Resource Locator graphs.

  • Publication number: 20190227879
Abstract: A storage system according to certain embodiments includes a client-side repository (CSR). The CSR may communicate with a client at a higher data transfer rate than the rate used for communication between the client and secondary storage. During copy operations, for instance, some or all of the data being backed up or otherwise copied to secondary storage is stored in the CSR. During restore operations, copies of the data stored in the CSR is accessed from the CSR instead of from secondary storage, improving performance. Remaining data blocks not stored in the CSR can be restored from secondary storage.

  • Patent number: 10360265
Abstract: Approaches provide for a speech driven question and answer service that uses a voice communications device to find information in which the user is interested in in response to a spoken question. For example, a voice communications device can receive a question for which an answer is desired and speak back a relevant answer. In this example, audio input data that includes the question can be received by the voice communications device. The audio input data can be analyzed to identify the question and the question can be used to query an index of stored questions to determine a set of candidate questions best matching the user's question. The candidate questions are associated with answers, and one or more answers can be combined, summarized, refined, or otherwise processed. Thereafter, the voice communications device can provide (e.g., speak back to the user) the most relevant answer(s) to the user or a modified version of the answer(s) (e.g.
