  • Publication number: 20170081358
Abstract: Methods and systems for control of solid phase peptide synthesis are generally described. Control of solid phase peptide synthesis involves the use of feedback from one or more reactions and/or processes (e.g., reagent removal) taking place in the solid phase peptide synthesis system. In some embodiments, a detector may detect one or more fluids flowing across a detection zone of a solid phase peptide synthesis system and one or more signals may be generated corresponding to the fluid(s). For instance, an electromagnetic radiation detector positioned downstream of a reactor may detect a fluid exiting the reactor after a deprotection reactor and produce a signal(s). In some embodiments, based at least in part on information derived from the signal(s), a parameter of the system may be modulated prior to and/or during one or more subsequent reactions and/or processes taking place in the solid phase peptide synthesis system.

  • Publication number: 20170081359
Abstract: Methods and system for solid phase peptide synthesis are provided. Solid phase peptide synthesis is a known process in which amino acid residues are added to peptides that have been immobilized on a solid support. New amino acid residues are added via a coupling reaction between an activated amino acid and an amino acid residue of the immobilized peptide. Amino acids may be activated using, e.g., a base and an activating agent. Certain inventive concepts, described herein, relate to methods and systems for the activation of amino acids. These systems and methods may allow for fewer side reactions and a higher yield compared to conventional activation techniques as well as the customization of the coupling reaction on a residue-by-residue basis without the need for costly and/or complex processes.

  • Publication number: 20170060991
Abstract: Systems and method for generating concepts from a document corpus are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for generating concepts from a document includes retrieving, a plurality of terms stored within a first lexicon. The method further includes, for individual terms stored within the first lexicon: determining a first frequency of the term within the document corpus, and determining a second frequency of the term within a comparison document corpus including a plurality of comparison documents, wherein the comparison document corpus is different from the document corpus. The method further includes, for individual terms within the first lexicon: determining a difference between the first frequency and the second frequency, comparing the difference between the first frequency and the second frequency to a comparison metric, and, when the difference between the first frequency and the second frequency satisfies the comparison metric, storing the term as a concept within a second lexicon.

The bioabsorbable tissue support includes a material that is gradually absorbed into the punctured tissue in time, and disappears. The bioabsorbable tissue support may be inserted standing alone, or in association with a permanent or temporary non-bioabsorbable tissue support, may define the shape of the punctured hole, and/or may release useful or ornamental chemicals into the punctured tissue. The chemical may include an antibacterial material, an antifungal material, an antimicrobial material, topical anesthetic, a temporary or permanent dye material, and/or an antiproliferative agent. The non-bioabsorbable tissue support may include a self-expanding material that enlarges the size of the puncture in time. The bioabsorbable tissue support may have the form of a tube and/or a mesh of variable peripheral shapes, be elongated, and/or have attachable and detachable end plates and pointed tips.

  • Patent number: 9572249
Abstract: A programmable circuit includes an array of printed groups of microscopic transistors or diodes. The devices are pre-formed and printed as an ink and cured. The devices in each group are connected in parallel so that each group acts as a single device. In one embodiment, about 10 devices are contained in each group so the redundancy makes each group very reliable. Each group has at least one electrical lead that terminates in a patch area on the substrate. An interconnection conductor pattern interconnects at least some of the leads of the groups in the patch area to create logic circuits for a customized application of the generic circuit. The groups may also be interconnected to be logic gates, and the gate leads terminate in the patch area. The interconnection conductor pattern then interconnects the gates for form complex logic circuits.
