Publication number: 20120123724Abstract: Additional circuitry is included in an input cell design structure for an integrated circuit to detect and report transitions on an input that was expected to be stable, and to store that event for later analysis. Two or more modified input cells may have their error indications daisy-chained together to minimize additional routing. The storage elements may be included in a scan chain to allow for isolation of which input had the unexpected transition.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 12, 2010Publication date: May 17, 2012Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Thomas Buechner, Martin Eckert, Matthias Klein, Andreas Wagner, Manfred Walz, Gerhard Zilles

Patent number: 8180142Abstract: Compact graphical representations of common test fail signatures and process related test fails are provided through methods of selecting, calculating and/or presenting information. The input may be a list of failing tests on a sample of devices under test from chip and/or wafer process fails. The failing tests are identified and then other tests that fail at the same time may be identified. Several graphical outputs are provided, including all possible combinations between test fails and between test fails and process fails. The dependencies are printed as sorted two dimensional bitmaps that are compact representations of the results using color codes. Subtraction of two independent bitmaps is provided, which eliminates common properties and emphasizes differences between multiple bitmaps which allows for quick identification of differences of process fails potentially different between the two different bitmaps indicating potential root causes for the selected one of the test fails.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2008Date of Patent: May 15, 2012Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Martin Eckert, Georg Goecke, Marta Junginger, Klaus Kempter, Markus Ulbricht

Publication number: 20120013356Abstract: A method and system for performing a self-test of power supply quality for an integrated circuit chip within an electronic system. The electronic system is subjected to a well-defined repetitive activity, such as by using an amplitude modulated system clock tree. With the repetitive activity causing current consumption within the chip, time-domain local power supply voltage (U(t)) is measured for a location on the chip. A set of time-domain measured voltage data (U(t)) is accumulated and transformed into the frequency domain to yield a local voltage profile (U(f)). The local voltage profile (U(f)) is compared with a reference voltage profile (U0(f)) to verify whether power supply quality at the chip location under test is adequate. Alternatively, a local impedance profile Z(f) evaluated from the local voltage profile (U(f)) may be compared to a reference impedance profile Z0(f).Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2011Publication date: January 19, 2012Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Martin Eckert, Roland Frech, Jochen Supper, Otto A. Patent number: 7747428Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying a compound word is provided. According to one aspect, data that specifies a first form of a component word is received. Within the compound word, a second form of the component word that differs from the first form of the component word is located. The compound word is displayed so that the second form of the component word is visibly distinguished from the remainder of the compound word. As a result, the compound word is displayed in a way that implements useful highlighting even when only a portion of the compound word is of interest to a searcher. The compound word may be displayed in this manner even when the portion takes a different form when within a compound word than when standing alone.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2003Date of Patent: June 29, 2010Assignee: Yahoo! Inc.Inventors: Bruce Karsh, Martin Eckert, Chung Kei Wong

Patent number: 7188541Abstract: A transmission system including a shift mechanism for operating and controlling the transmission system. To automatically detect geometric characteristic values of the transmission system or of the shifting device a selector motor and a shift motor actuate a select or finger that is displaceably mounted in a selection-shift-passageway layout. Starting from an initial position whose coordinates within the selection-shift-passageway layout are unknown, the selector finger is displaced in the directions of shifting and in the directions of selection in order to detect paths of movement in the direction of selection or shifting. The selector finger is repeatedly displaced to establish the maximum paths of movement until the predetermined transmission geometric characteristic values are completely detected. Also disclosed are a control device for controlling a transmission system that includes a shift mechanism, and a method for controlling such a transmission system.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2006Date of Patent: March 13, 2007Assignee: LuK Lamellen und Kupplungsbau Beteiligungs KGInventors: Martin Zimmermann, Holger Stork, Georg Schneider, Klaus Henneberger, Martin Eckert, Gunter Hirt, Thomas Jäger, Martin Vornehm, Volker Kretz-Busch, Reinhard Berger
