    Abstract: There is described prevention of an increase in the thickness of an oxide film of a silicon wafer, which would otherwise be caused by eruption of gas from a CVD oxide film of another wafer during the course of a high-temperature annealing operation. A semiconductor device, which has a silicon substrate and trench isolation structures for isolating a plurality of active regions from one another, is manufactured by the steps as follows. A first and a second dielectric films are formed on the silicon substrate of one of the conductivity types. The dielectric films are removed from the areas of the silicon substrate where the trench structures are to be formed. The trench structures are formed in the uncovered areas of the silicon substrate to a predetermined depth. An oxide film is deposited into the respective trench structures by means of CVD after the oxide film has been deposited on the interior surface of the respective trench structure.

    Abstract: A display control apparatus includes at least one output control unit, and each output control unit comprises: a tri-state buffer receiving, as a signal input, a one-bit color signal, and receiving, as a control input, a one-bit intermediate color control signal for controlling an intermediate color of the color signal, and setting its output in one of the following three states: a state of outputting a first voltage, a state of outputting a second voltage, and a high impedance state, on the basis of the color signal and the intermediate color control signal; a first resistor having an end connected to a power supply, and the other end connected to the output of the tri-state buffer; and a second resistor having an end connected to the ground, and the other end connected to the output of the tri-state buffer. Therefore, it is possible to provide a display control apparatus that is able to perform intermediate color display, with reduced manufacturing cost and reduced power consumption.

    Abstract: A sealed rectangular battery has a conductive battery case including an external casing and a sealing cap. The external casing encloses a generator element and is sealed by attaching the sealing cap using heat. The battery includes an electrode terminal with an opposite polarity to the battery case, and a safety valve. The safety valve includes a cap that is charged with the same polarity as the battery case and a valving element that covers a vent hole. The electrode terminal and safety valve are provided separately at different positions on the battery case. This construction is simpler than conventional batteries where the safety valve is integrally formed with an electrode terminal, which means that the electrode terminal can be miniaturized. This battery also has improved internal resistance.

    Abstract: Annular grooves are formed on both end surfaces of a recording drum to be rotated, and two balance weights are disposed inside each of the annular grooves. The balance weight is composed of a magnet, and is attracted to the end surface of the recording drum by its magnetic force. The two balance weights are arranged at a predetermined attaching angle such that an unbalance force caused by centrifugal forces developed by a plate, a movable clamp, and so forth is canceled. Every time the size and the mass of the plate are changed, the positions of the two balance weights are adjusted, so that forced vibration in the recording drum is restrained.

    Abstract: In a rectangular alkaline storage battery, the sides of negative cores of negative electrode plates 10, which are disposed at the outermost positions of the group of electrode plates and oppose an outer casing can 40, are exposed. The pore ratios (ratio of total area taken up by pores to area of electrode plate) of the exposed cores must be made lower than those of the other unexposed cores. The pore ratio of the exposed negative core is specified as falling within a range of 10% to 40%. As a result, the negative electrode plates 10 are improved in binding strength, thereby inhibiting exfoliation of an active material. Further, there can be obtained a large rectangular alkaline storage battery which has superior permeability for a gas which would arise in the battery, an improved capacity ratio, and greater volumetric energy density.

    Abstract: A battery structure is arranged such that an elastic valve body or the like cannot easily come off from the cover body during the production of the battery, which thereby enhances the production yield. A cover body of the invention includes a flange portion airtightly fixed to an injection port and a bulge portion protruding from the flange portion and provided with a space in which an elastic valve body is fitted (mounted). The bulge portion has an opening for ventilation provided on the side wall thereof and a protrusion at the lower end of the side wall thereof protruding inwardly of the side wall, whereby the elastic valve body can be held by the protrusion and the annular rim of the elastic valve body so that it can be prevented from coming off from the cover body. Accordingly, the elastic valve body can be prevented from coming off from the cover body due to vibration developed during the transportation of the cover body or like occasions, making it possible to enhance the production yield.
