  • Patent number: 5023472
Abstract: A transmission line driver circuit (10) includes a signal input (12). A first capacitor (28) stores a first voltage level corresponding to a first of two possible bit values of an input signal. A second capacitor (44) stores a second voltage level corresponding to a second of the possible bit values. First and second voltage supply sources (24, 42) are selectively and respectively coupled to the first and second capacitors (28, 44) for recharging these capacitors to their respective voltage levels. A transmission line (50) is coupled to an output of a switching circuit. The switching circuit is operable to couple the first capacitor (28) to the switching circuit output (34) in response to receiving an input signal of a first bit value. The switching circuit is further operable to couple the second capacitor (44) to the output (34) in response to receiving an input signal of a second bit value. The bit value is thereby propagated onto the transmission line (50).

  • Patent number: 5021845
Abstract: An insulated-gate field-effect transistor device characterized by the channel region consisting of the intermediate heavily doped portion (50; 72) and two lightly doped portions (46, 48; 74,76) provided on both sides of the heavily doped portion. Such a field-effect transistor device is advantageous in that it provides a surface potential locally increased to act as an energy barrier to minority carriers. This permits control over the threshold voltage of a MOS transistor or over the punch-through current of a punch-through transistor without having recourse to the use of a high carrier density throughout the channel region. The carrier density of the channel region being rather reduced, not only reduction in leakage current but improvement in withstand voltage characteristics can be achieved in a device according to the present invention.

  • Patent number: 4956820
Abstract: An arbiter circuit providing priority control of dynamic memory operations as a memory access signal control circuit which regulates the order in which dynamic memory access signals, such as read, write and refresh signals, are executed in effecting particular operating functions of a dynamic memory. The arbiter circuit has a first circuit element to temporarily hold a given access signal or signals, a second circuit element to inhibit transfer of any access signal when another access signal is already being executed, a third circuit element to synchronize individual access signals that are generated asynchronously, and a fourth circuit element to reset arbiter circuit upon the end of each access signal. The memory access signals or request signals are queued as necessary according to a priority allocation such that a write request signal heads the priority list, followed by a refresh request signal and a read request signal in order.
