  • Patent number: 5198699
Abstract: A transmission line driver circuit (10) includes a signal input (12). A first capacitor (28) stores a first voltage level corresponding to a first of two possible bit values of an input signal. A second capacitor (44) stores a second voltage level corresponding to a second of the possible bit values. First and second voltage supply sources (24, 42) are selectively and respectively coupled to the first and second capacitors (28, 44) for recharging these capacitors to their respective voltage levels. A transmission line (50) is coupled to an output of a switching circuit. The switching circuit is operable to couple the first capacitor (28) to the switching circuit output (34) in response to receiving an input signal of a first bit value. The switching circuit is further operable to couple the second capacitor (44) to the output (34) in response to receiving an input signal of a second bit value. The bit value is thereby propagated onto the transmission line (50).

  • Patent number: 5117395
Abstract: An expansible FIFO memory device to which additional memory stages having the same internal memory structure may be connected to form a multistage memory of increased memory storage capacity, uses a basic control circuit which is applicable to all of the added memory stages. The respective memory stages are connected in parallel such that only one memory stage is operable at one time instant in performing a data write or a data read operation. As a memory stage is completely filled with data written thereinto or conversely is completely emptied from the readout of data therefrom, the control circuit common to all of the memory stages provides appropriate signals indicative of the full condition of the memory stage in a data write operation and of the empty condition of the memory stage in a data read operation which signals are communicated to the next memory stage for activation thereof in a continuation of the data write or data read operation.

  • Patent number: 5070262
Abstract: A signal transmission circuit (10) for transmitting a signal (V.sub.IN) between dies on a wafer. A transmission node (72) is precharged to a first voltage (70) that is representative of a first of a plurality of bit values in response to the actuation of a gate (48) of a P-channel transistor (50) by a first state control signal (.phi..sub.1). At a later time, a second state of the control signal (.phi..sub.1) actuates a pass gate transistor (38) to couple the end of a first transmission signal line segment (32) to a node (40). A preselected state of the node (40) will cause the signal node (72) to be grounded to a logic zero (74). The signal node (72) is selectively coupled to a latch (92) by a one-shot pass gate (76). The output (102) of the latch (92) is connected to the beginning end of a second transmission line segment (104). The transmission of the signal thus relies on the state of the signal node (72) rather than on the presence or absence of a connection directly to a voltage supply such as V.sub.dd.

  • Patent number: 5059897
Abstract: A system and method for testing the continuity of interconnecting nets on a substrate to be used in multi-chip technology is provided. The system includes coupling a test pad (15) to the net (12) to be tested. The test pad (15) is coupled through a diode (34) to a common node (32). The voltage of a first node (16) of the net (12) is sensed by a voltmeter (38) which is coupled to ground. A predetermined current signal is applied to each node (16, 18, 20, 22) in the net through the use of a probe (42). The voltage of the remaining nets (14) is sensed by a voltmeter (44). If an erroneous interconnection (31) is present between the net (12) to be tested and any other net (14) on the substrate, the voltage of the other net (14) will fluctuate. The voltmeter (38) will indicate if there is an electrical connection between the node (16) and the test pad (15) during testing.
