Abstract: An example method for network selection involves discovering network capabilities by performing an Access Network Query Protocol (ANQP) query at a wireless terminal, and receiving a subsequent ANQP response from an access point of a wireless local area network. The network capabilities are indicated in the subsequent ANQP response. The example method also involves comparing the network capabilities with configured capabilities, finding a match between at least a portion of the network capabilities and at least a portion of the configured capabilities, and joining the wireless terminal with the access point based on the at least the portion of the network capabilities matching the at least the portion of the configured capabilities.

Abstract: An apparatus for viewing images of a gemstone is described. The apparatus comprises a support structure for supporting the gemstone at an observation position. An illumination structure comprises a plurality of directional light sources directed towards the observation position so as to illuminate the gemstone. The support structure and illumination structure are relatively rotatable relative to one another about a rotation axis. An imaging device is arranged to obtain images of the gemstone at the observation position at a variety of relative rotational positions between the illumination structure and support structure: the imaging device has an imaging axis passing through the observation position. The support structure is arranged so that the gemstone can be placed at the observation position in such a way that the normal to a selected facet of the gemstone is within a range of tilt angles from the rotation axis.

Abstract: A device in a peer-to-peer (P2P) group has the role of group owner. A different device in the P2P group may take on the role of group owner without ending the P2P group and create a new P2P group. Multiple P2P groups may be merged into a single P2P group. A single P2P group may be split into multiple independent P2P groups, each with its own group owner. A group owner of a P2P group may notify the client devices in the P2P group that it is about to leave the P2P group. A client device in a P2P group may be appointed in a new role of backup group owner, to take on the role of group owner in the event of a departure of the group owner, thereby providing continuity. Techniques for maintaining upper layer continuity through changes in topology of P2P groups are disclosed.

Abstract: A pumping assembly is provided which is suitable for use in a variety of dosing pumps. The pumping assembly comprises a pump body with a pump bore, and a sleeve fixed within the pump bore. The sleeve has a first end, a second end and a sleeve bore. A plunger is adapted to enter the first end of the sleeve and to reciprocate within the sleeve bore. The sleeve has at least one port to allow fluid flow through a wall of the sleeve. The, or each, port is elongated in a direction substantially orthogonal to a direction of reciprocation.

Abstract: A mobile device may retrieve service information about a network prior to associating with the network. Utilizing an advertisement protocol to transmit service query messages, a mobile device may receive service query responses from a network that identify the services available prior to establishing network capability. In other words, the messaging is prior to the exchange of any authentication parameters between the device and the network as well prior to the establishment of a recognized session between the device and the network.

Abstract: An access point advertises a management frame quality of service (MFQ) policy that defines an access category used for transmitting a first type of management frame. Each mobile station associated with the access point is to prioritize transmission of management frames according to the MFQ policy advertised by the access point, unless a policy configuration request for the mobile station to prioritize transmission of management frames according to a different MFQ policy has been accepted.

Abstract: A network node of a wireless local area network (WLAN) filters, based on at least one policy, information about services available via the network node. The network node sends, to a wireless device as part of a pre-association discovery operation of the wireless device, the filtered information about the services.

Abstract: A system is provided for programming workpiece feature inspection operations for a coordinate measuring machine. The system includes a computer aided design (CAD) file processing portion, an inspection motion path generation portion and a user interface. The user interface includes a workpiece inspection program simulation portion and auxiliary collision avoidance volume creation elements. The workpiece inspection program simulation portion displays a 3D view and the auxiliary collision avoidance volume creation elements are operable to create or define auxiliary collision avoidance volumes that are displayed in the 3D view. In various implementations, rather than requiring a user to model a physical object (e.g., as part of a workpiece or CMM) in a CAD file, the user may instead create and position an auxiliary collision avoidance volume at a location where the physical object is expected to be, so as to prevent collisions that could occur with the physical object.

Abstract: A communication device for establishing wireless peer-to-peer connections includes a network interface, a memory and a processor. The processor receives a command to initiate a wireless peer-to-peer connection with a second device, sets an intent parameter to a default value and stores the intent parameter in the memory. The processor determines whether a link has been established between the network interface and a wireless base station. When a link has been established, the processor adjusts the intent parameter based on a channel type of the link. The processor receives a second intent parameter from the second device via the network interface, and determines whether the intent parameter is greater than the second intent parameter. When the determination is affirmative, the processor configures the communication device as an access point for the peer-to-peer connection; and when the determination is negative, the processor configures the communication device as a client for the peer-to-peer connection.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for the treatment of a flat steel product, taking place in throughput. The apparatus includes an indirectly heated annealing furnace chamber, a conveyor device for continuously conveying the flat steel product over a conveyor path leading from an entry to an exit of the annealing furnace chamber, and nozzle arrangements for feeding atmosphere gas, which is reactive in relation to the flat steel product, into the annealing furnace chamber. A controlled treatment of the flat steel product includes a first nozzle arrangement, from which a gas jet induces a first gas flow towards the entry of the annealing furnace chamber and sweeping over the surface of flat steel product to be treated. A second nozzle arrangement includes a gas jet which induces a second gas flow directed towards the exit of the annealing furnace chamber and sweeping over the surface of flat steel product.

Abstract: An exercise machine which allows a user to perform a variety of exercises using dynamic resistance. The exercise machine includes a platform base, a housing tower, an upper-left exercise module, an upper-right exercise module, and a control console. The upper-left exercise module and the upper-right exercise module each comprise a primary torque motor, a primary cable, a pulley system, a structural arm, and a primary handle. The housing tower is connected onto the platform base. The upper-left exercise module and the upper-right exercise module are integrated into the housing tower and provide a means for applying a resistance force onto the extremities of the user. The primary cable tensionably engages the pulley system and connects the primary handle to the primary torque motor. The primary handle rests within and against the structural arm, attached to the housing tower. The control console allows for external device compatibility.

Abstract: An electronic device monitors a quality of a wireless connection between the electronic device and a first access point. Based on the monitoring and a collection of parameters relating to controlling handover between access points, a determination is made regarding whether the electronic device should be handed over to a second access point from the first access point, where the parameters differ for different combinations of the first access point and candidate destination access points for handover of the electronic device from the first access point.

The cavity includes a first compartment for cooling fluid defined in part by the flow guide and in part by the pump housing and being in fluid communication with the first port; and a second compartment for cooling fluid defined in part by the flow guide and in part by the jacket. The first compartment is in fluid communication with the second port by way of the second compartment.
