  • Publication number: 20100077185
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention intelligently associate processes with core processors in a multi-core processor. The core processors are asymmetrical in that the core processors support different features or provide different resources. The features or resources are published by the core processors or otherwise identified (e.g., via a query). Responsive to a request to execute an instruction associated with a thread, one of the core processors is selected based on the resource or feature supporting execution of the instruction. The thread is assigned to the selected core processor such that the selected core processor executes the instruction and subsequent instructions from the assigned thread. In some embodiments, the resource or feature is emulated until an activity limit is reached upon which the thread assignment occurs.

  • Publication number: 20100069795
Abstract: A method for contour fitting and posture identification initially receives a sensor data formed of a plurality of sensor signals. Thereafter at least one candidate posture or contour is determined from a set of at least one posture model based on the sensor data. Finally, user posture is determined from the at least one candidate posture through a decision making process. The sensor data can also be used to modify the at least one posture model for increasing identification accuracy. The sampling frequency of each sensor signal is dynamically adjusted to receive the sensor data in a nearly real-time manner.

  • Publication number: 20090328180
Abstract: Embodiments provide a security infrastructure that may be configured to run on top of an existing operating system to control what resources can be accessed by an applications and what APIs an application can call. Security decisions are made by taking into account both the current thread's identity and the current thread's call chain context to enable minimal privilege by default. The current thread context is captured and a copy of it is created to be used to perform security checks asynchronously. Every thread in the system has an associated identity. To obtain access to a particular resource, all the callers on the current thread are analyzed to make sure that each caller and thread has access to that resource. Only when each caller and thread has access to that resource is the caller given access to that resource.

  • Publication number: 20090303817
Abstract: A leakage testing method for a DRAM having a recess gate is provided. The method includes the steps of: programming to set the first storage unit and the second storage unit of a same memory cell with different storage statuses; and disturbing one of the word lines extending through the memory cells; then determining whether the DRAM is acceptable or not. When another one of the word lines extending through the memory cells is caused with a reading error by disturbing the one of the word lines extending through the memory cells, a failure is determined as occurred, and the failure is attributed to a leakage type of extended depletion region. When the another one of the word lines extending through the memory cells is not caused with a reading error by disturbing the one of the word lines extending through the memory cells, the DRAM is determined as acceptable.

  • Publication number: 20090289504
Abstract: The power saving uninterruptible power supply (UPS) has a first and second switches, an energy spared switch, a transformer, an automatic voltage regulator (AVR), a charger-and-inverter, a normal mode determination unit and an electric switch. When the utility power is stable, the first and second switches are connected together to supply the utility power to a load. At the time, the energy spared switch is physically disconnected with the utility power and the transformer and the AVR. Therefore, the transformer and AVR do not consume more energy of the utility power and the transforming efficiency of the UPS is increased.

  • Publication number: 20090268988
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention is a system for organizing data flow for two dimensional digital image processing. The system includes a memory access module for accessing an external memory containing image data to be processed, and a data flow organizer module for preparing a data stream from the input image data accessed by the memory access module. The data flow organizer module predicts future data needed for processing, and the memory access module pre-fetches the predicted data from the memory. A data processing module processes the pre-fetched data from the data flow organizer module. Address generation for accessing the memory is performed independent and in parallel with processing the pre-fetched data.

  • Publication number: 20090263870
Abstract: There is provided a method and/or system which allow on-chip preconditioning of complex real-world samples and/or handling of limited amounts of target material, and/or on-chip nucleic acid amplification process, using a free droplet containing magnetic attractable material. The nucleic acid amplification process comprises controlling the position of the magnetic attractable material and performing the nucleic acid amplification in a thermocycling droplet located onto at least one temperature zone. The low thermal masses of the herein described heaters/temperature sensors come along with fast temperature transitions within the corresponding temperature zones allowing impressing temperature gradients in at least one temperature zone between subsequent or within the same thermocycle(s). Additionally, the variable residence times of the droplet in a given temperature zone permit to customize the denaturation, annealing and/or extension times within the same or between different PCR runs.

  • Publication number: 20090179496
Abstract: The power saving uninterruptible power supply (UPS) has a transformer, an automatic voltage regulator (AVR), a charger-and-inverter, a normal mode determination unit and an electric switch. The transformer has a primary side and a secondary side. The primary side is coupled to an alternating current (AC) power source.
