  • Patent number: 7131708
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle includes a powertrain having a retarded diesel engine, an electric machine and energy storage system. The engine and motor are operatively coupled through one or more planetary gearsets and selective coupling paths in accordance with application and release of various torque transfer devices to a drivetrain via an output. Regenerative and retarded engine braking are coordinated to provide priority to energy return to an energy storage system in accordance with predetermined power flow limits. Power flow in excess of the limits are handled by increased engine retard braking contributions via engine speed increases.

  • Patent number: 7127337
Abstract: This novel silent operating mode for a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) reduces noise and emissions compared to traditional HEV operating modes. It is a complementary series of software control functions that allows the vehicle to operate with reduced noise and emissions where specifically needed, while phasing-in engine power where allowed. The method utilizes an energy storage system budget associated with a modal quantity of energy allocated for the mode, and is adapted to automatically adjust the operation of the vehicle to accommodate deviations from the budgeted energy amount. The mode also adjusts the vehicle operation in conjunction with changes in the parametric conditions of the ESS.

  • Patent number: 7120730
Abstract: A system that determines where a particular XIP component is stored on a medium and loads the component into RAM for execution, providing the ability to demand page specific components at will from storage media, frees up working RAM on memory constrained devices. A Binary File System uses a generic block driver component that loads the XIP code from a block based storage medium. Features of the file system include the ability to load pre-“fixed up” components from a block based device. The invention thus allows an operating system to load code that was previously Executed In Place (XIP) from a block-oriented device.

  • Patent number: 7110869
Abstract: A hybrid powertrain has a transmission including a motor and a sensor for sensing rotation of the transmission output member. Motor speed signals are available from the motor controller. Speed signals representative of output speed are calculated from both the speed sensor and the motor speed in conjunction with known speed relationships between the motor and the output. A variety of in-range and dropped signal diagnostics is performed for the sensors and are used in the development of a set of software switches for selecting which of the speed sources is used as the output speed.

  • Patent number: 7092572
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for testing the accuracy of digital test images generated by a computer graphics program executed on a computer graphics system. A test program is utilized to compare the test image with a reference image. The user defines regions of interest and a maximum error for each region. This allows the user to focus on a particular object or group of objects. Global image quantification verification generates one measurement of error or image difference for each region of the test image. Each region is divided into sub-regions and an average color value is calculated for each sub-region and the corresponding sub-region in the reference image. The differences between the averages for corresponding sub-regions in the test and reference images are calculated. A test image region may be unacceptably different from a reference image if a normalized sum of the absolute differences exceeds the maximum error.

  • Patent number: 7092571
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for testing the accuracy of digital test images generated by a computer graphics program executed on a computer graphics system. A test program is utilized to compare a test image with a reference image. Regional image quantification verification aims at an image comparison test that accepts minor color value differences and spatial shifts in rendered pixel values. The test image and reference image are divided into corresponding sub-regions. The average color value for each sub-region of the test image is compared to the average color value of the corresponding reference image sub-region and also to other nearby reference image sub-regions. A test image is unacceptably different from a reference image, if for any sub-region of the test image, no reference image sub-region is found with an average color value difference and spatial shift less than specified maximums.

  • Patent number: 7076101
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for testing the accuracy of digital test images by comparing the value of each test image pixel with the average value of a corresponding reference image pixel array. The local image quantification verification test program accepts absolute differences between corresponding pixel and array values that are less than a specified difference maximum. The user may specify a difference maximum and a maximum array size, and may restrict the test image comparison to specified regions of the test image with specific difference tolerances for each region. This allows the user to focus the comparison on certain regions as more important than others and to focus a region on a particular object or group of objects.

  • Patent number: 7063411
Abstract: An inkjet cartridge. The inkjet cartridge includes a body and a seal member. The body includes a first chamber, a second chamber, a third chamber, a first exit, a second exit, a third exit, an opening, and a channel. Ink is received in the first chamber, the second chamber, and the third chamber. The second and third chambers communicate with the second and third exits so that the ink in the second and third chambers flows directly to the second and third exits. The channel communicates the first chamber and the first exit so that the ink in the first chamber flows to the first exit via the channel. The seal member is disposed on the channel via the opening, and seals the channel to prevent ink in the first chamber flowing through the first exit from flowing out of the opening.

  • Publication number: 20060109284
Abstract: A method for blending multiple layers of images into a blended image is disclosed. Each layer of image contains a plurality of pixels and has a corresponding transparent coefficient. At least one image-overlapping area is formed by overlapping at least two of the layers of images. The method employs a lookup table to store a plurality of weight coefficient sets, each of which corresponds to a subset of the layers of images and the transparent coefficients of the layers of images within the subset. Then, the method selects one of the weight coefficient sets in the lookup table according to the overlapped layers in the image-overlapping area, and blends a correspondingly located pixel of each overlapped layer to generate a blended pixel of the blended image according to values of the correspondingly located pixels and the selected weight coefficient set.
