  • Patent number: 6057118
Abstract: A method for quantitatively determining LDL cholesterol, including the steps of adding to serum a surfactant selected from among polyoxyethylenealkylene phenyl ethers and polyoxyethylenealkylene tribenzylphenyl ethers and a cholesterol-assaying enzyme reagent so as to preferentially react cholestrols in high density- and very low density-cholesterols among lipoproteins, and subsequently determining the amount of cholesterol that reacts thereafter. This method can eliminate the necessity for pretreatments such as centrifugation and electrophoresis, enables the quantitative determination to be conducted in an efficient, simple manner, and can be applied to various automatic analyzers.

  • Patent number: 5976275
Abstract: The present invention aims at providing structural materials having a resistance to degradation by neutron irradiation, causing no SCC in an environment of light-water reactors even after subjecting the materials to neutron irradiation of approximately at least 1.times.10.sup.22 n/cm.sup.2 (E>1 MeV), and having thermal expansion coefficients approximately similar to that of structural materials. The high nickel austenitic stainless steels of the present invention having a resistance to degradation by neutron irradiation can be produced by subjecting stainless steels having compositions (by weight %) of 0.005 to 0.08% of carbon, at most 0.3% of Mn, at most 0.2% of (Si+P+S), 25 to 40% of Ni, 25 to 40% of Cr, at most 3% of Mo or at most 5% of (Mo+W), at most 0.3% of Nb+Ta, at most 0.3% of Ti, at most 0.001% of B and the balance of Fe to a solution-annealing treatment at a temperature of 1000 to 1150.degree. • Patent number: 5956155
Abstract: In a facsimile apparatus having a facsimile modem function for a personal computer to perform communications through the facsimile apparatus, the changeover between a facsimile mode and a facsimile modem mode is automatically made based on whether an AT command is transmitted from the personal computer or not. When an AT command is received while the facsimile apparatus is in the standby state in the facsimile mode, the operation mode is changed to the facsimile modem mode to execute the command. When no AT command is received within a predetermined period of time after the execution of the AT command, the operation mode is returned to the facsimile mode. In changing the mode, the facsimile apparatus is disconnected from the telephone line.

  • Patent number: 5909289
Abstract: The present invention provides a facsimile apparatus and controlling method, in which a confidential box number for PC transmission function for sending received information to a personal computer (15) is preliminarily registered. When a facsimile correspondence accompanying the confidential box number for PC transmission function is received, a control section (1) sends out the received information to an interface (10). Thus, the facsimile apparatus can distinguish information to be destined for the personal computer (15) from other received information to automatically send the information to the personal computer (15) by utilizing a confidential communication function thereof.

  • Patent number: 5847839
Abstract: An image data output device for restricting the storage of inputted image data in a memory and successively outputting the inputted image data, when the residual capacity of the memory has reduced to a predetermined value while the image data are being stored in the memory. After the input of the image data has been completed, the image data stored in the memory are read out and outputted.

  • Patent number: 5847843
Abstract: A facsimile apparatus which enables the printer section and document original reading section thereof to be used as a printer and image reader, respectively, for a personal computer. To use the reading section for reading a document original as the image reader for the personal computer, the operation mode of the facsimile apparatus is switched from an ordinary operation mode to a PC-FAX mode. When a document original is read by the reading section in the PC-FAX mode, the facsimile apparatus behaves as if it received a call-in of facsimile correspondence, and sends image data to the personal computer. Further, by operating an operation section, a printer function call number is registered for an external input printing function which enables information input to an interface to be printed out. When a call-out command designating a phone number is sent to the facsimile apparatus from the personal computer, a control section judges if the phone number agrees with the printer function call number.

  • Patent number: 5790266
Abstract: In the present invention, a transmission control procedure from the time when a calling facsimile receives a digital identification signal from a called facsimile to the time when the calling facsimile transmits a facsimile message is carried out by control signals using tone signals. For example, the calling facsimile sends out to the called facsimile a first control signal indicating that facsimile transmission should be performed through a particular procedure if it receives the digital identification signal from the called facsimile. The called facsimile sends to the calling facsimile, if it receives the first control signal, a second control signal indicating that the first control signal is received. The calling facsimile sends out to the called facsimile a third control signal indicating that a facsimile message should be sent and then, sends out the facsimile message to the called facsimile if it receives the second control signal.

  • Patent number: 5774085
Abstract: A circuit adjusts the gain, direct-current (DC) component, and transient response of input signals to provide suitable output signals for a connected signal processor. The circuit includes a gain and DC component control circuit, which controls the amplitude and DC offset level of an input signal; an A/D converter, which performs A/D conversion on the output of the gain and DC component control circuit; and an equalization filter, which is connected to the output of the A/D converter. The amplitude distribution of the output waveform of the equalization filter is measured, and the gain and DC component control circuit is controlled on the basis of said measured value, in order to assure that the output of the equalization filter is suitable for a connected signal processor.

  • Patent number: 5773304
Abstract: A method for quantitatively determining cholesterol in high density lipoproteins, in which, prior to the determination of cholesterol by an enzymatic method, a surfactant and a substance which forms a complex with lipoproteins other than high density lipoproteins are added to a sample containing lipoproteins. The method does not require any pretreatments such as centrifugal separation. With a simple operation, cholesterol in HDLs can be measured effectively. Also, this method can be adopted in a variety of automated analyzers, and thus is very useful in the field of clinical assays.

  • Patent number: 5680224
Abstract: A facsimile communication method according to which a relay broadcast mode is set by an operator, in which receiving station numbers or the like are inputted from an operating section, and the receiving station numbers are stored in a first memory block. When a start key is operated in this state, a document set in a scanner section is read, and image data corresponding to the read document are sequentially stored in a second memory block. Information on the document corresponding to one page is read, and the receiving station numbers are read out of the first memory block to produce a transmission frame. Further, the image data are read out of the second memory block, to produce a transmission frame. The produced transmission frames are sequentially transmitted to a relay station. Thus, the receiving station numbers are transmitted as a part of the information.
