Publication number: 20210185681Abstract: Techniques for congestion management in a communication network are contemplated. For example, a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may include a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer and a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) layer. The RRC layer may receive an indication for a service, for example from the NAS. The indication may be interpreted as a request for the particular service indicated. For example, the indicated service may correspond to at least one of: a mobile originated (MO) voice communication, a circuit switched fallback (CSFB) supplementary service (SS), or a MO short message service (SMS). The RRC layer may receive a signal from a network indicating that one or more services provided by the network are allowed. The RRC layer may send a connection request to the network for the service sought by the NAS if that service is one of the one or more services allowed.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 18, 2021Publication date: June 17, 2021Applicant: InterDigital Patent Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Mahmoud Watfa, Pascal M. Publication number: 20210175945Abstract: Multiple mobility sets are maintained for nodes of radio networks. The sets comprise information such as: transmit and receive point identities; cell identities; beam identities; frequency channels; channel bandwidth; and black lists. The sets may be defined at different levels, such as network and physical (PHY) level. A network mobility set, e.g., a new-radio (NR) mobility set may, be determined by the gNB, the cell, the UE, or another device. Multiple radio access network nodes and UEs may exchange mobility set information to achieve a distributed mobility solution. A UE may monitor its orientation relative to a TRP, e.g., via use of an onboard MEMS gyroscope, and alter its beamforming parameters in response to changes in orientation and/or changes in TRP connection strength. Cell selection and reselection for beam based networks may use Single Frequency Network (SFN) broadcast of initial access signals without beam sweeping.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2020Publication date: June 10, 2021Inventors: Wei Chen, Pascal M. Adjakple, Joseph M. Murray, Qing Li, Qian Zhang, Lakshmi R. Iyer, Tianyi Xu, Guodong Zhang, Allan Y. Tsai

Patent number: 10932278Abstract: It is recognized herein that, in some cases, URLLC transmissions may preempt a scheduled eMBB transmission. Thus, in accordance with one embodiment, resources are allocated for URLLC data transmission in a manner that minimally impacts eMBB data transmissions. In an example code block groups are configured for efficient multi-bit A/N feedback. Multi-bit A/N methods are disclosed with and without explicit resource allocation. Various preemption mechanisms are also described herein including, for example, puncturing, dropping the tail end of a transport block, and increasing rate matching.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2018Date of Patent: February 23, 2021Assignee: Convida Wireless, LLCInventors: Lakshmi R. Patent number: 10880868Abstract: System information can include a basic set of system information and additional system information. A UE can receive the basic set of system information and then later request or receive the additional system information. Messages can use tags which can be used to look up locally stored system information. If a tag does not correspond to any locally stored system information, the system information and an associated tag can then be requested. Messages can be indicative of a cluster identity associated with cells. When the UE goes into a new cell, the cluster identity can be checked to see if system information from a prior call can be reused.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2019Date of Patent: December 29, 2020Assignee: Convida Wireless, LLCInventors: Pascal M.
