  • Publication number: 20170113440
Abstract: A method for finishing an edge of a glass laminate structure comprising the steps of assembling a glass laminate structure having a first glass sheet, a second glass sheet and an interlayer material intermediate the first and second glass sheets and placing a compressive material on a first edge of the assembled structure. A vacuum can be applied to a second edge of the assembled structure and the assembled structure heated to a predetermined temperature at or above a softening temperature of the interlayer material. The vacuum and temperature can be maintained for a predetermined period of time whereby the compressive material provides an in situ finish for the first edge of the glass laminate structure.

  • Publication number: 20170076519
Abstract: A motor vehicle controls operation of a mobile electronic device and includes a fingerprint sensor which scans a driver's fingerprint and produces a first electronic representation of the driver's fingerprint. A wireless transceiver receives from the mobile electronic device a first air-borne signal including a second electronic representation of the driver's fingerprint. An electronic processor determines whether the vehicle is in motion, compares the first electronic representation of the driver's fingerprint to the second electronic representation of the driver's fingerprint, and causes the transceiver to transmit a second air-borne signal to the mobile electronic device. The second air-borne signal instructs the mobile electronic device to disable itself.

  • Patent number: 9534974
Abstract: A pressure sensor includes a body made of semiconductor material having a first type of conductivity and a pressure-sensitive structure having the first type of conductivity defining a suspended membrane. One or more piezoresistive elements having a second type of conductivity (P) are formed in the suspended membrane. The piezoresistive elements form, with the pressure-sensitive structure, respective junction diodes. A temperature sensing method includes: generating a first current between conduction terminals common to the junction diodes; detecting a first voltage value between the common conduction terminals when the first current is supplied; and correlating the detected first voltage value to a value of temperature of the diodes. The temperature value thus calculated can be used for correcting the voltage signal generated at output by the pressure sensor when the latter is operated for sensing an applied outside pressure which deforms the suspended membrane.

  • Patent number: 9516386
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for modifying metadata associated with content that is improperly formatted. In one configuration a metadata pre-processor receives metadata from a remote source, determines whether the received metadata is properly formatted, and, if it is not, modifies the metadata based on information received from a second remote source. In one configuration the modified metadata is then used to identify information associated with the content.

  • Publication number: 20160292268
Abstract: A commercial album of analog audio recordings, having multiple tracks, is identified. An analog recording of the album is played to produce an analog audio input signal. The audio output signal is digitally sampled to produce digitized segments. One or more track-titles are obtained (1902) from a remote audio finger-printing service for each digitized segment to provide track-titles. For each obtained track-title, each album-title is requested (1905) upon which the obtained track-title appears, to provide candidate albums. A score is generated (1905) for each provided candidate album based on the number of obtained track-titles that appear on a provided candidate album in the correct order. An album is identified by comparing (2209) these scores.

  • Publication number: 20160295324
Abstract: An analog audio signal derived from a vinyl recording is processed via an input transducer, such as a moving magnet or moving coil device. A phono input stage (209) has an adjustable input impedance. A pre-amplifier (207) with variable gain amplifies an output from the phono stage. A power amplifier (201) amplifies an output from the pre-amplifier. The temperature of the power amplifier is monitored and an output (202) from the power amplifier is supplied to an output transducer. A touch sensitive screen (104) receives input gestures to provide control signals to a control processor (203). The control processor operates first relays to control the input impedance, operates second relays to control the adjustable gain and also operates the second relays in order to attenuate output volume in response to identifying the monitored temperature as being above a predetermined threshold.

  • Publication number: 20160186811
Abstract: A bearing system includes a bearing housing configured to house a bearing and enclosing a free volume for receiving a lubricant, a bearing, a pump configured to pump lubricant into the free volume, a shaft in an opening in the housing rotatably supported by the bearing, an exclusion seal between the shaft opening and the shaft that is repeatably and non-destructively shiftable from a sealing state in which it substantially prevents lubricant from leaving the free volume and a release state in which it allows lubricant to escape between the exclusion seal and the shaft. The exclusion seal is caused to shift by increasing and decreasing a pressure in the bearing housing, and the system includes a controller configured to repeatedly shift the exclusion seal by raising and lowering the pressure in the free volume to continuously maintain a lubricating film between the exclusion seal and the shaft.

  • Patent number: 9359005
Abstract: A drive mechanism for an AGV that includes a drive unit for propelling the AGV and a steering unit for steering the AGV. The drive unit has a drive motor, drive transmission, and a drive wheel. The steering unit has a steering motor. Both motors are fixedly mounted on the AGV and remain stationary relative to each other while the drive motor rotates the drive wheel and the steering motor steers the drive wheel. The drive transmission couples the drive motor to the drive wheel and can be at least partially mounted within a gear housing that is rotatably mounted via a bearing so that the drive motor can be operated to move the AGV via power transferred to the drive wheel via the drive transmission, and the steering motor can be operated to steer the drive wheel by rotation of the gear housing and drive wheel via the bearing.

  • Publication number: 20160140741
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for performing flood-fill operations on vector artwork. In one embodiment, a region under a point of interest (POI) of vector artwork is rasterized and flood-filled, and an initial bounding shape around that area is used as a first guess as to the area to be filled. In other cases, the initial bounding shape is created around some initial area that includes the POI (no rasterization). In any such case, vector objects having bounding shapes that intersect the initial bounding shape are identified and fed into a planar map. After map planarization, a new bounding shape is created around a new area resulting from the planarizing and that includes the POI. In response to that bounding shape not extending beyond the initial bounding shape, a vector-based flood-fill operation can be performed on that new area. The process repeats if a new bounding shape extends beyond previous bounding shape.
