  • Patent number: 9259411
Abstract: A method of inhibiting excitotoxicity by indirectly activating ?4?2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) which indirectly activate synaptic AMPA and NMDA receptors is disclosed. Inhibitors of ?7 nACHRs, such as macrocyclic diterpenoids, more specifically cembranoids or methyllycaconitine (MLA), indirectly activate ?4?2 nAChRs and can be used to treat neurodegenerative diseases, including, but not limited to, Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson Disease, AIDS related dementia and the delayed effects of stroke. They can also be used to treat diseases associated with neuronal impairment, including, but not limited to glaucoma caused by optical nerve damage, delayed effects of epilepsy; and multiple sclerosis.

  • Publication number: 20160006816
Abstract: A server-client system or architecture that allows datacast applications to reliably transport data objects from a network server over a unidirectional packet network (“datacast network”) to one or more clients, each of which may be listening to the packet stream at different times. The invention allows the clients to listen intermittently to the datacast, yet still receive all of the data objects published by the server in a timely manner, and in a way that is more optimal in terms of client resource use. This ensures that listening clients can receive a complete set of the data objects broadcast while being able to conserve client processing and power resources by not requiring continuous listening by the client to the datacast.

  • Publication number: 20150301961
Abstract: A system-on-check integrated circuit 2 includes interconnect circuitry 4 connecting a plurality of transaction sources to a plurality of transaction destinations. The interconnect circuitry 4 includes a reorder buffer for buffering access transactions and hazard checking circuitry 46, 48, 50, 52 for performing hazard checks, such as point-of-serialisation checks and identifier reuse checks. Check suppression circuitry 62, 64, 66, 68 serves to suppress one or more hazard checks depending upon one or more state variables that themselves depend upon access transactions other than the access transaction for which the hazard checking is or is not to be suppressed. As an example, hazard checking may be suppressed if it is known that there are no other access transactions currently buffered within the reorder buffer 26 or alternatively no other access transactions from the same transaction source buffered within the reorder buffer 26.

  • Publication number: 20150241486
Abstract: Examples disclose a system with an input current sensing circuit to measure an input current of a current carrier. Additionally, the examples disclose an output sensing circuit to measure an output current from the current carrier. Further, the examples disclose a controller to determine a power loss associated with the current carrier based on the input and the output current measurements. The power loss indicates a risk of a thermal damage to the current carrier.
