  • Publication number: 20140270467
Abstract: An apparatus and system for secure packaging, shipment, receipt and storage of mail, parcels and parcels is described. The apparatus includes an appliqué with a multitude of sensitized residue within that surround the parcel; the residue in the media forms a unique optical fingerprint, which is an exemplar image data for comparison. Substantial damage to one or more fibers alters the optical fingerprint pattern. The data is read and independently verified at waypoints and the destination. Comparing the current image data to the exemplar image data indicates damage or tampering.

  • Publication number: 20140233141
Abstract: A system for autonomous protection from fires and electrical shock of components used in construction of photovoltaic arrays is disclosed. The system detects conditions that left unattended will result in conflagration of combustible materials and unwanted electrification. The disclosed system provides an active control mechanism that operates to take defective components off line and thus provide protection from fire and electrification hazards that otherwise could arise. The system also provides means for annunciation and notification when actions are taken. The system can be used, for example, to determine that a photovoltaic (PV) module is at risk of conflagration of its flammable structural elements due to intense heat of plasma produced by a direct current (DC) arc at a point in the grid of conductors that collect and carry current from photovoltaic cells exposed to solar irradiation.

  • Patent number: 8775120
Abstract: Methods, devices, and computer programs are presented for consolidating overlapping data provided by multiple sources. One method includes operations for associating a plurality of devices to a user, each device operable to capture data associated with the user, and for receiving, from the plurality of devices, captured data about a first activity associated with a first period of time. Additionally, the method includes operations for detecting that the received captured data from two or more devices provide overlapping information about the first activity, and for evaluating one or more rules for consolidating the overlapping information to produce consolidated data. The consolidated data provides a unified view of the first activity during the first period of time. The consolidated data is stored in permanent storage and made available for presentation to the user.

  • Patent number: 8753041
Abstract: The invention provides an injection, sealing, valving and passageway system for use with hollow rock bolts and hollow injection bars used in mining, civil engineering, tunneling and construction including use with hollow self drilling rock bolts. The invention comprises a plurality of passageways with one or more one way flow valves along the passageways. The invention enables one or more fluids to be pumped into a hollow rock bolt or other hollow elongate member either sequentially or simultaneously without cross contamination of fluids in another passageway or back flow of fluids along the wrong passageway. The invention is typically used to install self drilling rock bolts whereby a drilling fluid is initially pumped through the hollow bolt during the drilling cycle, and then a two part chemical resin or cement grout is pumped through the hollow bolt to anchor the bolt in the borehole.
