Abstract: The Foldable/Flexible sled is a lightweight circular sled that folds up into itself, with two quick hand motions, for quick and easy transport. Made of soft, flexible material it is also less dangerous in the case of sledding accidents.

Abstract: An aqueous micellar formulation for localised topical application to an animal for the concurrent control of internal and external parasites in and on the animal, the formulation comprising a water-miscible co-solvent, a fatty alcohol alkoxylate, a macrocyclic lactone and water. Also described is a method for the concurrent control of internal and external parasites in and on an animal, the method comprising administering to the animal by localised topical application an aqueous micellar formulation comprising a macrocyclic lactone.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for imaging an eye portion or for treating glaucoma in an eye of a patient. In a first step an optical microscopic image of a portion of the eye is acquired. In the optical microscopic image a distinguishable anatomical structure is identified to predict a location of a volume portion to be imaged three-dimensionally. Three-dimensional imaging of the located volume portion is performed by acquiring an optical coherence tomography image of the located volume portion. The volume portion is treated by either directing a laser beam to the volume portion or inserting an implant based on the OCT-image.

Abstract: A submount for mounting an LED chip includes a substrate, a die attach pad configured to receive an LED chip on an upper surface of the substrate, a first meniscus control feature on the substrate surrounding the die attach pad and defining a first encapsulant region of the upper surface of the substrate, and a second meniscus control feature on the substrate surrounding the first encapsulant region and defining a second encapsulant region of the upper surface of the substrate. The first and second meniscus control features may be substantially coplanar with the die attach pad. A packaged LED includes a submount as described above and further includes an LED chip on the die attach pad, a first encapsulant on the substrate within the first encapsulant region, and a second encapsulant on the substrate within the second encapsulant region and covering the first encapsulant. Method embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: A printing form precursor comprises a printing surface which comprises an inorganic metal compound, the printing surface being hydrophobic and capable of being made hydrophilic by energy but capable of becoming hydrophobic again, for reuse, if desired. An associated method of printing includes steps of subjecting the printing surface imagewise to energy so as to locally increase its hydrophilicity sufficient to make the surface differentiated in its acceptance of an oxophilic a printing ink; applying the ink to the printing surface and printing from the printing surface; causing or allowing the printing surface to undergo a reduction in hydrophilicity sufficient again to make the printing surface uniform in its acceptance of a printing ink; and,if wished, repeating these steps on multiple occasions. Thus the invention achieves the goal of providing a printing form precursor which does not need a chemical developer, and which can be used multiple times, to print different images.

Abstract: Applications in a broadcast environment distribute events in real-time to a large number of receivers within specified geographic locations while efficiently sharing bandwidth resources with other applications using the same broadcast network. Applications need not be aware of the other applications sharing the resources, nor of the methods, protocols, and other mechanisms used to actually broadcast the data over the broadcast medium. Server-side applications that serve data, send notifications, or distribute events to specific locations within the network use a broadcast location manager. Client applications that receive such data, notifications, or events use a client location filter to obtain events that are relevant based on the location of the device. The broadcast location manager and client location filter work together to reliably and efficiently transmit data, notifications, and events to specific locations over the broadcast network for all applications involved.

Abstract: A reaction turbine system for the generation of hydroelectricity is disclosed. It consists of a Darrieus type turbine with a horizontal axis of rotation. The blades may be straight or helical, and are held equidistant from the central rotating shaft by blade support members. The blades are oriented so that a blade at its rotational apex moves directly opposite to the direction of water flow. The turbine is elevated such that the top portion, where blades travel directly against the direction of water flow, is in the air and above the water level. This design greatly reduces stresses on the system and increases energy output relative to a Darrieus turbine fully immersed in water flow. This design also enables the turbine to self-start.

Abstract: Packaged semiconductor light emitting device are provided including a reflector having a lower sidewall portion defining a reflective cavity. A light emitting device is positioned in the reflective cavity. A first quantity of cured encapsulant material having a first index of refraction is provided in the reflective cavity including the light emitting device. A second quantity of cured encapsulant material having a second index of refraction, different from the first index of refraction, is provided on the first quantity of cured encapsulant material. The first and second index of refraction are selected to provide a buried lens in the reflective cavity.

Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method for transmitting data in a broadcast mode to multiple devices operating in a network. The invention enables the efficient utilization of bandwidth while providing a desired level of quality of service for the applications executing on the devices that utilize the broadcasted data. The invention utilizes a set of bandwidth constraints in combination with a set of heuristics and rules for the allocation and re-allocation of bandwidth among multiple applications in a manner that minimizes the impact on the quality of service metrics of importance to the affected applications when contention exists for the network resources. The present invention implements processes to cause the quality of service provided to each application to degrade smoothly, with certain priorities and guarantees being maintained.

Abstract: A datacast system, and associated apparatus and method for automatically managing a data object or objects within a hierarchical carousel structure by enabling, among other functions, the dynamic allocation of bandwidth to each carousel within the structure. The dynamic bandwidth allocation enables a server platform to redistribute the bandwidth allocated to a carousel or set of data objects to adjust to desired changes in object transmission policies or priorities of a datacast application.

The interaction of the electromagnets and the permanent armature magnets causes a repulsion force, which creates a force in the direction of the motion of the vehicle to reduce fuel consumption.
