  • Publication number: 20080170939
Abstract: A turbine diaphragm includes an annulus of static blades and an outer diaphragm ring surrounding the annulus of static blades and welded to the outer platforms. Each static blade has an inner platform, an aerofoil, and an outer platform. The inner platforms serve the function of an inner diaphragm ring, thereby reducing material and manufacturing costs. Furthermore, confronting edges of the inner platforms have an interference fit with each other and the aerofoils are in a state of torsional stress between the inner and outer platforms. The latter two features improve the dynamic characteristics of the diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 7369940
Abstract: A method for operating a display system in a vehicle (03) when driving into a parking space (06), uses a camera (01) with an image processing unit in which the image data obtained by the camera (01) can be processed and a display screen (02) in the interior of the vehicle. After the vehicle has moved to the vehicle position in which the first parking-space icon (07) has been brought to overlay the parking space (06) shown in the real-time image, a second parking-space icon (09) is faded into the real-time image on the display screen (02) by the image processing unit, with this second parking-space icon (09) in the real-time image in true scale indicating a region which after moving along a first segment (15) of the travel path (14) towards the parking space (06) must be brought to overlay the parking space (06) shown in the real-time image.

  • Patent number: 7318379
Abstract: A linear-motor driven, rail-mounted transport system for containers and interchangeable bodies includes a network of at least two pairs of parallel disposed rails arranged at an angle with respect to each other and having a continuous flat travel surface. The pairs of rails form intersections. Outside of the intersections, guide profiles are arranged in the middle on one rail in each pair. A two-part transporter trolley has wheels that can swivel around a pivot and horizontal guide rollers. A spacing of the wheels corresponds to the spacing of the rails for the lengthwise and crosswise travel and the wheels with the guide rollers can turn in the intersection. Magnets arranged on the transporter trolley in the lengthwise and crosswise directions move the transporter trolley in the lengthwise and crosswise directions by interacting with stators of the network and a limiting element.

  • Publication number: 20070297466
Abstract: A moisture sensitive optically nonlinear crystal is enclosed in a hermetically sealed elongated vacuum cell. The vacuum cell has an input window at one end and an output window at an opposite end providing optical access to the crystal by a laser beam. The windows are attached to the cell by cold-formed, indium-metal ram-seals. In an example of the cell in which the crystal is arranged to generate UV radiation from the laser beam, the output window is located at a sufficient distance from the crystal that the flux of UV radiation incident on the output window is below the damage threshold of the window for the UV radiation.

  • Publication number: 20070084320
Abstract: A cutting tool including a main tool body and a tool carrier which is movable relative thereto for accommodating a cutting bit. The tool carrier has a screwthreaded bore co-operating with a first screwthread on a drive shaft in such a way that the tool carrier can be moved relative to the main tool body by rotation of the drive shaft. The drive shaft has a second screwthread which is arranged in a screwthreaded bore in the main tool body, such that the two screwthreads differ in respect of their pitch and/or direction of rotation.

  • Publication number: 20070036621
Abstract: The invention relates to a base body for a drilling tool, in particular to drilling/grinding tool whose front surface (14) can accommodate a cutting insert holder (2). Said invention also relates to a cutting insert holder used with said base body (1) provided with a seat for receiving a cutting insert (13, 13?, 13?). The aim of the invention is to develop a flexibly usable drilling tool whose cutting insert holder can be adjusted in a simple and accurate manner and is not expensive. For this purpose, at least one adjusting pin (4) which is connected to the base body (1) axially overlaps the cutting insert holder (2) and/or the cutting insert in such a way that a radial adjustment of the cutting insert holder (2) with respect to the base body (1) can be carried out by measuring the radial deviation (a) between the defined point of the cutting insert holder (2) or a cutting insert (3, 3?, 3?) accommodated thereby and the adjusting pin (4).

  • Patent number: 7042933
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting data over a channel, in which the data are categorized in at least two different categories. For example, the data are categorized according to the effect on perceived degradation on the data when error mitigation is performed on the data. Corrupted data of the first category are replaced using a first replacement method, such as retransmission and forward error correction. The corrupted data of the second category are replaced using a second replacement method different from the first replacement method, e.g., error mitigation or interpolation.
