  • Publication number: 20140342581
Abstract: A vertical mount PCB coax connector having a unique cavity design. The examples provide a vertical mounted connector with improved electrical performance to transmit a microwave signal to or from a coaxial port to planar printed circuitry. The vertical mount PCB connector includes a threaded housing with a four post flange for attachment to the PCB, a center conductor and a dielectric bead to support the center conductor. The bottom of the flange has a uniquely contoured cavity to provide air space for the electromagnetic field above the planar transmission line. Four posts at the corners of the flange serve as the ground connection from the connector to the substrate ground planes. The open or large cavity under the flange is designed to provide high values of inductive reactance at the high end of the microwave band and typically requires changing the planar geometry to achieve even a narrow band impedance match.

  • Publication number: 20140195490
Abstract: A method and apparatus for replicating a data container of a source storage server at the logical level in an unordered stream of individual data units are described. In certain embodiments, the replication operations can be performed without regard to the differences in geometry of physical persistent storage of the source and destination storage servers and without regard to the differences in data container format of the source and destination storage servers. An initial replication operation of the source data container is performed by transferring the data objects within the source data container to a replica data container in the destination storage server as an unordered stream of individual data units while preserving data object identifiers of the source data objects. Afterwards, incremental replication operations can be performed to capture modifications to the source data container over time after the initial replication operation.

  • Publication number: 20140118191
Abstract: Controllable directional antenna apparatus and method preferably includes structure and/or steps whereby a Yagi antenna array has a first driven element, a first reflector, and plurality of first directors disposed on a common substrate. The first reflector is bent such that (i) an unbent length thereof is longer than a length of the first driven element, but (ii) a bent length thereof is shorter than the length of the first driven element. A second driven element is also disposed on the common substrate but is angled with respect to the first driven element. A second reflector and a plurality of second directors are also disposed on the common substrate. The second reflector is bent like the first reflector, to reduce the footprint of the array on the substrate. Preferably, the Yagi antenna elements are printed on a printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 8466575
Abstract: Deployed laterally (broadside to the waves), this power plant hydraulically converts the breadth of waves into electricity. Costly hydraulic motors, generators Etc. need not be duplicated for each unit in series. Depleted waves break gently. Sand put into suspension by the turbulent release of energy from waves crashing onto un-harvested beaches, carried by the alongshore current to calm water, settles and remains. Replenishment is the natural by-product of wave energy conversion, avoiding costly, environmentally intrusive dredging and pumping. At sea, extensions aid energy harvesting from swells. In series, it defends against oil spills Etc. from washing up onto beaches. Free floating, easily removed for maintenance when tourism takes priority over energy, beach replenishment and oil spill protection. When the series is to be transported over long distances at sea, inclined planes can be pivoted 90 degrees enabling the series to be self-propelled by the swells to its new site.
