  • Publication number: 20160119427
Abstract: A storage area network (SAN)-attached storage system architecture is disclosed. The storage system provides strongly consistent distributed storage communication protocol semantics, such as SCSI target semantics. The system includes a mechanism for presenting a single distributed logical unit, comprising one or more logical sub-units, as a single logical unit of storage to a host system by associating each of the logical sub-units that make up the single distributed logical unit with a single host visible identifier that corresponds to the single distributed logical unit. The system further includes mechanisms to maintain consistent context information for each of the logical sub-units such that the logical sub-units are not visible to a host system as separate entities from the single distributed logical unit.

  • Patent number: 9285958
Abstract: A browser interface is described for displaying predictive content that is predicted to be interesting to a user. In one embodiment, a forward button in a browser may become a predictive forward button when the user is at the end of a history stack. By selecting the predictive forward button, the user may access predictive content, such as content related to one or more pages viewed during the current browsing session. In some embodiments, the user can sequentially select the predictive forward button any number of times to iteratively explore new content, such as content that is related to other content viewed during the current session.

  • Patent number: 9246235
Abstract: Controllable directional antenna apparatus and method preferably includes structure and/or steps whereby a Yagi antenna array has a first driven element, a first reflector, and plurality of first directors disposed on a common substrate. The first reflector is bent such that (i) an unbent length thereof is longer than a length of the first driven element, but (ii) a bent length thereof is shorter than the length of the first driven element. A second driven element is also disposed on the common substrate but is angled with respect to the first driven element. A second reflector and a plurality of second directors are also disposed on the common substrate. The second reflector is bent like the first reflector, to reduce the footprint of the array on the substrate. Preferably, the Yagi antenna elements are printed on a printed circuit board.

  • Publication number: 20160013886
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting data over a channel, in which the data are categorized in at least two different categories. For example, the data are categorized according to the effect on perceived degradation on the data when error mitigation is performed on the data. Corrupted data of the first category are replaced using a first replacement method, such as retransmission and forward error correction. The corrupted data of the second category are replaced using a second replacement method different from the first replacement method, e.g., error mitigation or interpolation.

  • Publication number: 20150300955
Abstract: An analytical system and method periodically monitoring an injection water distribution pipeline for the presence and concentration of formaldehyde or other aldehyde-functional biocide includes pumps, one of which provides a predetermined volume of injection water drawn from the pipeline at a sampling point and the other a predetermined volume of a reagent, preferably a buffered solution of dimedone, from a reagent storage vessel which are mixed and then heated in a chamber to a predetermined temperature to promote formation of any reaction products. The heated reaction mixture is passed to a detection cell and exposed to light of predetermined wavelength which, in accordance with the Hantzsch reaction, molecules having an aldehyde functional group that reacted with dimedone produce a fluorescence-emitting reaction product, the intensity of which is measured and compared to data previously obtained from standard aldehyde-containing solutions.

  • Publication number: 20150151245
Abstract: A process for removing sulphur dioxide from the gaseous effluent of a smelter furnace comprising the steps of: providing the gaseous effluent from a smelter; separating the sulphur dioxide from the gaseous effluent to provide concentrated sulphur dioxide and effluent for discharge into the atmosphere; mixing the concentrated sulphur dioxide with a fuel gas; heating the mixture such that the concentrated sulphur dioxide and fuel gas react to form a gaseous product mixture comprising sulphur and hydrogen sulphide; and removing the majority of preferably substantially all of the sulphur and hydrogen sulphide from the gaseous product mixture; wherein the remaining gaseous product mixture is incinerated before being vented into the atmosphere or is recycled into the smelter furnace.

  • Patent number: 9040571
Abstract: This invention concerns a method for the preparation of a suspoemulsion formulation, which can be easily produced on an industrial scale and which allows the reproducible and effective administration of one or more water-insoluble veterinary drugs through water distribution systems. The water-insoluble veterinary drug, in finely ground form, is dispersed in a water immiscible liquid, followed by homogenization of this system into a water phase. To facilitate the preparation of a stable formulation, one or more stabilizing agents such as emulsifiers, thickeners, anti-oxidants and anti-microbials can be used. The resulting suspoemulsion shows excellent long term storage stability and a good “in use” stability after dilution in a vessel and during all handling and transport in the water distribution system.

  • Publication number: 20150082145
Abstract: Approaches enable three-dimensional (3D) display and interaction with interfaces (such as a webpage, an application, etc.) when the device is operating in a 3D view mode. For example, interface elements can be highlighted, emphasized, animated, or otherwise altered in appearance, and/or arrangement in the renderings of those interfaces based at least in part on an orientation of the device or a position of a user using the device. Further, the 3D view mode can provide for an animated 3D departure and appearance of elements as the device navigates from a current page to a new page. Further still, approaches provide for the ability to specify 3D attributes (such as the appearance, action, etc.) of the interface elements. In this way, a developer of such interfaces can use information (e.g., tags, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) to specify a 3D appearance change to be applied to at least one interface element when the 3D view mode is activated.

  • Publication number: 20140372947
Abstract: A system is disclosed that improves the ability for users to select links and/or other display elements via a touch screen, such as the touch screen of a smartphone, tablet, or other mobile device. The system achieves this effect by adjusting the sizes and/or shapes of the touch targets associated with particular display elements. For example, if a particular link on a web page is determined to be difficult to select via a touch screen (based on monitored user behaviors and/or based on an automated analysis of page content), the touch target associated with the link may be increased in size.
