  • Patent number: 6149414
Abstract: The invention concerns an oil-sealed vane-type rotary vacuum pump (1) with a rotor (3) and an oil pump (45, 46) whose suction chamber is fitted with feeds (64, 65) for gas and oil. In order to simplify the supply of a gas/oil mixture to the vacuum pump, the invention proposes that the gas and oil feeds (64, 65) are disposed in such a way that initially only oil and subsequently both oil and air are aspirated into the volume swept by the oil pump (45, 46) as it rotates.

  • Patent number: 6142735
Abstract: A variable-pitch propeller, especially for a sport board, has angularly displaceable blade support plates which can be rotated about respective radial axes. The plates are provided with radially inwardly directed claws which engage in circumferential grooves of bases of the blades. The latter can have radial projections reaching beneath the claws. The resulting bayonet connection simplifies mounting and dismounting of the propeller blades even under water.

  • Patent number: 6141952
Abstract: In a method of operating a combined-cycle plant, valves (21) acting upstream of a high-pressure steam turbine (12) are completely closed in the event of load shedding. The gas-turbine group (A+8) is uncoupled from an intermediate-pressure/low-pressure steam turbine (11) in such a way that the gas-turbine group can go into island mode. In this case, the speed of the uncoupled steam turbine (11) is not greater than the speed of the gas-turbine group (A+8), and steam (16) in the flow path of a reheater (10a) belonging to the heat-recovery steam generator (10) expands freely through the intermediate-pressure/low-pressure steam turbine (11), in the course of which this expansion does not cause the speed of the gas-turbine group (A+8) to exceed its protective speed.

  • Patent number: 6089177
Abstract: A box-like trim tab for a high-speed motor boat or motor yacht has an inlet at its side pivotally connected with the stern of the boat so that it can allow the exhaust gas or a cooling liquid of the engine to pass through the trim tab and emerge at the open free side thereof. The trim tab reduces the noise generated by discharging the exhaust gas under the water or by conducting the exhaust gas through the water to the trim tab outlet.
