  • Publication number: 20180028145
Abstract: An electronic catheter stethoscope measures and analyzes acoustic fields and dynamic pressure variations in the gaseous or liquid fluid inside a conventional medical catheter that is positioned in a patient's urologic, digestive, reproductive, cardiovascular, neurological or pulmonary system. Measurement transducers are installed in a housing connectable to multiple preselected medical catheters. The transducers detect bodily functions that are transmitted to the preselected catheter from within the body. The transducers, housing, electrical interface and signal processing electronics are positioned outside the body.

  • Publication number: 20180017921
Abstract: A media path moves media sheets from a media supply, a print engine receives the media sheets from the media path, and a sensor detects a characteristic related to the media sheets. A drive nip continuously moves the media sheets, and a stall nip receives the media sheets from the drive nip. The stall nip is positioned less than the length of one of the media sheets from the drive nip. The stall nip alternately stops or moves the media sheets while the drive nip continuously moves the media sheets, as controlled by a controller, to cause the media sheets to buckle between the drive nip and the stall nip. The controller controls when to stop or move the media sheets to constantly vary the size of the buckle, and thereby make the buckle relatively larger for a first characteristic and make the buckle relatively smaller for a different characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20170314758
Abstract: A process for making biochar from a processed organic-carbon-containing feedstock is described. The processed feedstock is introduced into a substantially microwave-transparent reaction chamber. A microwave source emits microwaves which are directed through the microwave-transparent wall of the reaction chamber to impinge on the feedstock within the reaction chamber. The microwave source may be rotated relative to the reaction chamber. The feedstock is subjected to microwaves until the desired reaction occurs to produce a solid processed biochar fuel.

  • Patent number: 9789268
Abstract: In laparoscopic surgery, small (5-12 mm diameter) incisions are made in an abdominal wall through which instruments dissect and remove specimens that may be several centimeters in diameter. Removal of a sample typically requires either enlarging these incisions or morcellating the sample to pass through sub-centimeter ports. A laparoscopic device permits extraction of the sample to be removed in a female using a vagina, which has sufficient elasticity to accommodate removal of large specimens. A posterior portion of the vagina communicates to an abdomen through a few tissue layers, and is distant from vital anatomic structures. Utilizing the vagina is optimal due to its ease of access to the abdomen and repair, minimal scarring and post-operative pain, and faster recovery following surgery. A deployable collection bag is housed in a sheath, which is deployed into the vagina or an abdominal cavity to extract a large (multiple-centimeter) specimen(s) through the vagina.
