  • Publication number: 20230342645
Abstract: An apparatus useful for creating and measuring states of an entangled system, comprising a pair of interacting multi-level systems, each of systems comprising a state |g>, a state |r>, and state |r*>. One or more first electromagnetic fields excite a first transition between the ground state |g> and the state |r> to create an entangled system. One or more second electromagnetic fields are tuned between the state |r> and the intermediate state |r*> so that any population of the systems in |r*> are dark to a subsequent detection of a population in the systems in |g>, providing a means to distinguish the entangled system in the state |g> and the entangled system in the state |r>. In one or more examples, the systems comprise neutral Rydberg atoms.

  • Publication number: 20230333282
Abstract: Optical metasurfaces can manipulate a light wavefront without traditional lenses. They can include pillars with subwavelength dimensions on a substrate. The pillars can vary in size, shape, and spacing across a surface of the substrate. Each pillar size and shape can diffract incident light and provide a unique electromagnetic response. The metasurface can provide desired light wavefront manipulation without the thickness of traditional lenses. The metasurface can overcome the aberration problem of traditional lenses. An overcoat layer can be located at a distal-end of the pillars. Pillar pitch can be adjusted for uniform spacing between pillars, and uniform overcoat coverage. The overcoat layer can protect the pillars. An alternative to the overcoat layer is a solid fill-material filling gaps between the pillars.

  • Patent number: 11788586
Abstract: A method selectively locks a notch plate to a pocket plate such that the notch and pocket plates rotate together. The pocket plate includes struts that work in opposite directions. The pocket plate rotational speed and the notch plate rotational speed are identified. Once the notch plate rotational speed is close to the pocket plate rotational speed, the struts in one direction are activated. Once seated, the struts in the other direction are activated. This two-step engagement of the struts provides a smoother transition between clutch engagements (gear shifts) while not requiring the precision of having all struts activated at the same time.

  • Patent number: 11791146
Abstract: Systems and multiplexing methods for measuring the mass of multiple large molecules simultaneously using multiple ion trapping with charge detection mass spectrometry (CDMS) are described. The methods trap ions with a broad range of energies that decouple ion frequency and m/z measurements allowing energy measurements of each ion throughout the acquisition. The ion energy may be obtained from the ratio of the intensity of the fundamental to the second harmonic frequencies of the periodic trapping oscillation making it possible to measure both the m/z and charge of each ion. Because ions with the exact same m/z but different energies appear at different frequencies, the probability of ion-ion interference is significantly reduced. By maximizing the decoupling of ion m/z from frequency, the rate of signal overlap is significantly reduced making it possible to trap more ions and substantially reduce analysis time.

  • Patent number: 11774987
Abstract: A method and system for controlling movement of a vehicle. Movement, orientation, and position data of the vehicle is collected. A model of kinematics of the vehicle and its environment is created and a Theory of World model is produced and updated. The model includes geometric algebra multivectors. Errors and noise are stored as geometrically meaningful first-class objects within the multivectors. Geometric algebra operations are used to manipulate the model during operation. Error and noise data are propagated and manipulated using geometric algebra operations to reflect measurement and processing errors or noise. The models are used in generation of control data with a primary intent of ensuring stability. Operations such as intersections are used to compare position, orientation, and movement of the vehicle against position, orientation, and movement of objects in its environment. System tasks include, but are not limited to, kinematics, inverse kinematics, collision avoidance, and dynamics.

  • Patent number: 11738940
Abstract: A side-to-side flip roof has the ability to be manually opened from both sides of a waste container by use of a manually operated handle. A carriage, carrier assembly, and pivot system allows for filling of the container from either side. This product has a plastic full-length roof to resist water ingress to meet legal storm water preparedness requirements. It holds up under extremely rigorous usage. For weight restriction reasons, plastic sheeting appears the best material to use for this roof. The roof mechanism allows a single person to open the roof with height of the box up to 8?, or more. This flip roof is additionally lockable.
