  • Patent number: 8856601
Abstract: This invention permits selectively bypasses serial scan chains. Constant or low toggle data is directed to the bypassed serial scan chain, thus reducing power consumption. The number and identity of serial scan chains bypassed during a particular test can be changed dynamically dependent upon the semiconductor process variations of a particular integrated circuit. This enables an optimal test to be preformed for integrated circuits having differing semiconductor process variations.

  • Patent number: 8853815
Abstract: A semiconductor apparatus is provided herein for buffering of nets routed through one or more areas associated with a first power domain that is different from a second power domain associated with the buffers and the buffered nets by limiting placement of these buffers in patterned areas associated with the second power domain. This provides for the routing of the buffered nets to be determined not only based on the shortest distance to travel from Point A to Point B, but also takes into account routing congestion on the semiconductor apparatus. Consequently, if an area on the semiconductor apparatus is congested, the buffered nets may be routed around the congestion. As such, although a path taken by a particular signal through the integrated circuit is not a direct route, it may still be of a distance to support a speed at which the particular signal needs to be transferred.

  • Patent number: 8856731
Abstract: Systems and methods of scalable language infrastructure for electronic system level tools. In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, knowledge about types, functions and the like is encapsulated in a plurality of intelligent components called active component extension modules that are external to the infrastructure. The infrastructure implements a communication mechanism between the clients and these intelligent components, and acts as a common backbone. The infrastructure itself does not maintain any knowledge about any client, types, functions, etc. In accordance with a method embodiment of the present invention, a request is received from a client of a language infrastructure. The request is forwarded from the language infrastructure to an active component extension module. The active component extension module performs a service responsive to the request.

  • Patent number: 8855250
Abstract: A wireless communication device is disclosed that includes an automatic gain controller capable of accurately adjusting gain of a received signal. The received signal includes a plurality of symbols, including pilot symbols that each includes at least one pilot tone, and data symbols that do not include any pilot tones. A power of a pilot symbol is determined, and a power of a data symbol is determined. The determined data symbol power is then scaled by a scaling factor (that depends on various system parameters) and is subtracted from the determined pilot symbol power to provide an estimate of a power of the pilot tones within the signal. From the estimated pilot tone power, the automatic gain controller can accurately determine a preferred gain for amplifying future frames of the received signal.

  • Patent number: 8856112
Abstract: User accounts in a social networking application are divided into highly-connected accounts and regular accounts. A mapping of the highly-connected accounts to their friends, and a mapping of accounts to documents endorsed by the users associated with the accounts are stored on index servers of a search engine. When a query is received by a front-end server of the search engine, the front-end server determines if an account associated with the query is a highly-connected account. If it is, only an identifier of the account is sent to the index servers with the query. If it is not, however, then identifiers of all of the accounts that are friends with the account are sent with the query. The index servers then determine the documents that are endorsed by the friends of the account, and consider the determined documents when selecting documents that are responsive to the query.

  • Patent number: 8847202
Abstract: A dual-band infrared detector structure based on Type-II superlattices (T2SL) has been developed and experimentally validated. The structure according to the principles of the present invention is designed for a single Indium bump architecture and utilizes a T2SL barrier design that omits the traditional p-n junction region. The barrier design comprises multiple periods where each period comprises multiple monolayers doped P type. By selecting the composition, number of monolayers per period and number of periods, a transition region is created in the conduction band between a first absorber layer and a second absorber layer that allows operation at low biases (<100 mV for both bands) and exhibits a dark current density in the longer wavelength band comparable to that obtained with single-color detectors.
