  • Publication number: 20080250407
Abstract: Virtual machine (VM) management using a group name. By associating VM registration information with a group name, all VMs running off a single physical machine image can be managed (e.g., blocked or unblocked) simultaneously. A service component captures registration information (e.g., IP address-VM name pair) between a virtual machine and a name server. The IP address-VM name pair is recorded (or stored) in the name server database. Based on the VM pair, a record component generates a group name, and stores the VM pair in association with the group name in the name server database. Blocking of the group name then blocks all VMs associated with the group name. Moreover, queries against the group name will then expose all operational VMs for that host. Updates to the group name record can be made based on registration and deregistration of VMs for a given host machine.

  • Patent number: 7433657
Abstract: A transmitter has a signal generator, an amplifier, a detection circuit, a comparison circuit, a loop filter, and an adjustable clock. The signal generator produces a signal. The signal is produced with a first frequency characteristic and contains frequency-related information. The detection circuit detects the first frequency-related characteristic and generates an associated signal in response. A comparison circuit compares the signal from the detection circuit and another signal. It outputs a signal associated with the difference between the two. A loop filter receives the output of the comparison circuit and generates a signal to the signal generator in. The loop filter is clocked at a second frequency by a signal from a clock circuit. The clock circuit can compare the first frequency and the second frequency, and can change the second frequency based upon a relationship between the two frequencies.

  • Publication number: 20080242022
Abstract: An electronic device can include a nonvolatile memory cell having DSEs within a dielectric layer. In one aspect, a process of forming the electronic device can include implanting and nucleating a first charge-storage material to form DSEs. The process can also include implanting a second charge-storage material and growing the DSEs such that the DSEs include the first and second charge-storage material. In another aspect, a process of forming the electronic device can include forming a semiconductor layer over a dielectric layer, implanting a charge-storage material, and annealing the dielectric layer. After annealing, substantially none of the charge-storage material remains within a denuded zone within the dielectric layer. In a third aspect, within a dielectric layer, a first set of DSEs can be spaced apart from a second set of DSEs, wherein substantially no DSEs lie between the first set of DSEs and the second set of DSEs.

  • Publication number: 20080240107
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate maintaining consistent radio-link layer protocol (RLP) sequence numbers in the event of an RLP sequence number reset. An offset can be adjusted upon occurrence of the event to reflect a subsequent expected sequence number. The offset can be added to the RLP sequence numbers such that receiving devices and/or higher layer applications can operate without realizing the sequence number reset. Additionally, the offset can be synchronized among base stations to facilitate operability following handoff of the receiving device.

  • Publication number: 20080244307
Abstract: A method and mechanism for failing over applications in a clustered computing system is provided. In an embodiment, the methodology is implemented by a high-availability failover mechanism. Upon detecting a failure of an application that is currently designated to be executing on a particular node of the system, the mechanism may attempt to failover the application onto a different node. The mechanism keeps track of a number of nodes on which a failover of the application is attempted. Then, based on one or more factors including the number of nodes on which a failover of the application is attempted, the mechanism may cease to attempt to failover the application onto a node of the system.

  • Publication number: 20080243999
Abstract: A method and a communication system having an Application Ensemble Service server is provided that manage an application ensemble having multiple applications running on one or more user terminals. The communication system allows a user to collectively transfer the ensemble from a source terminal or terminals to a target terminal or terminals, for example, from voice and data terminals to other voice and data terminals or to a single user terminal. The communication system further allows the user to selectively transfer applications of the ensemble, such as transferring only the voice session from the voice terminal to another voice or voice/data terminal, and to copy an ensemble, or a portion of an ensemble, from a source terminal to a target terminal, wherein the ensemble or portion of the ensemble is not removed from the source terminal. The communication system further allows a user to suspend and resume an application ensemble.

  • Patent number: 7430140
Abstract: A memory architecture and a method of operating the same can provide a substantially constant data valid window (DVW) irrespective of a temperature for the memory device. Generally, a memory device can receive an access request, determine a temperature of the memory device, and switch a number of delay elements in an output buffer in response to the temperature of the memory device. In one embodiment, a memory device can have a multi-stage input-output (I/O) buffer and an automatic temperature compensated circuit that samples a temperature of the memory and then switches a number of delay elements in the I/O buffer into a data path between the memory and the output to provide a substantially constant DVW over changes in temperature.

  • Patent number: 7430661
Abstract: A system comprises non-volatile storage, a read only memory (ROM) that contains an executable BIOS and a CPU communicatively coupled to the non-volatile storage and the ROM. The non-volatile storage contains user data, an executable capture application, a first operating system contained within a non-volatile storage partition, and a partition file that contains a second operating system. The partition file is also included with the non-volatile storage partition. The capture application executes under the first operating system and causes the CPU to store at least some user data in said partition file. The system may also include a user input control and, upon activation of the user input control, the CPU loads the second operating system from the partition file and provides the user access to the user data via a viewer application that runs under the second operating system.

  • Publication number: 20080235163
Abstract: As part of the normal crawling process, a crawler parses a page and computes a de-tagged hash, called a fingerprint, of the page content. A lookup structure consisting of the host hash (hash of the host portion of the URL) and the fingerprint of the page is maintained. Before the crawler writes a page to a store, this lookup structure is consulted. If the lookup structure already contains the tuple (i.e., host hash and fingerprint), then the page is not written to the store. Thus, a lot of duplicates are eliminated at the crawler itself, saving CPU and disk cycles which would otherwise be needed during current duplicate elimination processes.

  • Publication number: 20080234994
Abstract: A method for multi-objective deterioration accommodation using predictive modeling is disclosed. The method uses a simulated machine that simulates a deteriorated actual machine, and a simulated controller that simulates an actual controller. A multi-objective process is performed, based on specified control settings for the simulated controller and specified operational scenarios for the simulated machine controlled by the simulated controller, to generate a Pareto frontier-based solution space relating performance of the simulated machine to settings of the simulated controller, including adjustment to the operational scenarios to represent a deteriorated condition of the simulated machine.

  • Publication number: 20080235185
Abstract: A communication system comprises a user equipment which may access a network via an access network element. Initially, the user equipment transmits a query message to a default network entry point which then contacts a home registration server for the user equipment. The home registration server determines an access network element determination server associated with a current location of the user equipment. The user equipment is informed of the access network element determination server and contacts this. In response, the access network element determination server determines a list of access network elements for the user equipment and transmits the list to the user equipment. The user equipment then registers for a communication service by accessing the network using a selected access network element selected from the list of access network elements. The invention may be particular suitable for accessing an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) via a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE).
