  • Patent number: 9696169
Abstract: The described principles provide a method and system for identifying a potentially closed road based on reroute requests, and of accommodating the potential road closure while continuing to test the road status periodically via routing decisions and rerouting requests. While the optimal route assumes that the potentially closed road is open, a replacement route is defined assuming that the potentially closed road is closed. A fraction of users are sent along the optimal route, and if a reroute request is received, the potentially closed road is assumed to be closed still. The affected user is rerouted to a recovery route that matches the optimal route up to the potentially closed road, and then differs from the optimal route thereafter to avoid the potentially closed road.

  • Patent number: 9689237
Abstract: A system and method for use in used in oil and gas wellbores is provided. More specifically, the disclosure relates to barriers or seals used in downhole operations involving activities such as perforating operations and well abandonment operations. The system and method relate to sealing a borehole such as when a well is being abandoned at the end of its productive life. The embodiments are particularly applicable to boreholes containing casing with an inner wall and an outer wall wherein an annulus is formed between the outer wall of the casing and the borehole wall.

  • Publication number: 20170180393
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed permitting a sender to send a secret and secure message to a recipient. An application on a sender device interfaces with known message generating tools to permit a user to generate a message. The local application encrypts the message (and optional attachments) based on public/private key pairing negotiated with the server given the recipient device id. The sender device transmits the cipher text to the server. The server generates a benign, text-based, context-appropriate message and delivers same to a recipient device by way of a known messaging service. The benign message provides a secret clue to the recipient that an encrypted message is available. Recipient may then access and decrypt the encrypted message, such as from the server in response to a successful challenge (e.g., password request).

  • Patent number: 9670421
Abstract: An apparatus and process is disclosed for mitigating coking in an FCC reactor plenum. The apparatus and process utilize a baffle to create a inner volume for the product vapors to prevent contact with a relatively cool plenum. • Publication number: 20170132542
Abstract: A method includes obtaining, by one or more processor, a request related to an entity, data related to a given user, external data related to the entity, and external data related to the given user, and a record related to the entity, wherein the record comprises operating hours for the entity. The one or more processor analyzes the external data related to the entity and determines if there is an inconsistency in the operating hours, which it corrects. The processor analyzes the external data related to the entity to generate a prediction for peak hours of the entity and analyzes one or more of: the external data related to the entity, the external data related to the given user, the operating hours, the corrected operating hours, or the peak hours, to generate a recommendation for an optimal time for the given user to visit the entity.

  • Publication number: 20170080413
Abstract: A baffle is installed on the wall of a regenerator vessel to push catalyst away from the wall to ensure adequate exposure to regeneration gas and complete combustion of coke from the catalyst. We have found that in deep beds, catalyst can flow down the walls and escape sufficient exposure to regeneration gas and undergo too little regeneration.
