  • Publication number: 20070200712
Abstract: Devices and systems to interrogate radio frequency identification (RFID) tags are described. Compact and inexpensive interrogation devices are realized by implementing integrated circuit chip-based RFID reader and antenna on a common substrate. The small form-factor devices may be used for quick and easy installation of RFID reader network. In an aspect, the device may be incorporated into hand-held mobile devices in order to serve as a mobile reader. In another aspect, the device may be installed as a shelf-reader or a rack-reader, displaying product-specific information on a display screen. In a further aspect, the device may comprise an appliance, whose operation can be tailored according to instructions received specific to a RFID-tagged item.

  • Publication number: 20070188940
Abstract: In a tunnelmagneto resistive (TMR) device, free stack sublayers are separated by an intermediate spacer layer that serves to ensure a uniform circumferential magnetization in the free stack, counterbalancing orange-peel coupling by anti ferromagnetic exchange coupling. On top of the upper free stack sublayer a thin upper anti ferromagnetic layer may be formed to act as a hard bias layer and suppress side reading. The thickness of the upper AFT layer is established to tune sensor sensitivity to external fields as well as to promote greater sensor sensitivity.

  • Publication number: 20070188939
Abstract: In a CPP MR device such as a tunnel magnetoresistive (TMR) device, shoulders that have a magnetic moment that is matched to the magnetic moments of the free layer extend between the free layer and the S2 shield to provide an electrical path from one shoulder, through the shield, to the other shoulder for dissipating edge charges. Thus, a CPP MR device may include a seed stack, a pinned stack on the seed stack, and a tunnel barrier on the pinned stack. A free stack may be on the tunnel barrier, and the free stack can include a free sublayer separated from a magnetic shield and a path for dissipating edge charges in the free stack through the magnetic shield.

  • Publication number: 20070177560
Abstract: A wireless local area network for digital radio communication between remote devices and a PBX telephone system, wherein the remote devices can access and use the voice message features in the PBX and the data bases on a host computer and servers. A wireless phone is provided for voice and data communication through the PBX or a CO telephone line with remote locations or the Internet using digital data packets and standard Internet Protocol. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the remote device is a cash register comprising a bar code scanner and a phone. • Publication number: 20070121558
Abstract: Described is a system comprising a first wireless device and a second wireless device. The first device has access to a packet routing table which includes data indicative of a packet transmission path in a wireless mesh communications network. The second wireless device is communicatively coupled to the first device and has access to the routing table. Upon receipt of a packet by the first device which is addressed to the second device, the first device determines, as a function of at least one of (i) the routing table and (ii) a first identifier of the second device, a second identifier of a third wireless device to receive the packet directly from the first device. At least one of the first, second and third devices updates the routing table.

  • Publication number: 20070090373
Abstract: A III-nitride power device for controlling high currents as an interdigitated electrode pattern for increasing device rating while decreasing device dimensions. Fingers of the interdigitated electrode pattern have tips with smaller dimensions than the remainder of the fingers. The tapered finger design balances current flow in the electrode fingers to reduce device resistance while permitting a more compact construction.

  • Publication number: 20070082714
Abstract: Described is a system and method for power conservation in a wireless device. The method includes switching, by a wireless computing unit, from a first communication mode to a second communication mode at a predefined time interval. The unit receives wireless signals only when in the second communication mode, and the first communication mode is a power-save mode. The unit then receives a wireless signal, and initiates a wireless connection to a wireless arrangement to obtain traffic data from the wireless arrangement when the signal includes a traffic data indicator which is indicative of existence of the traffic data. The unit switches into the first communication mode when the indicator is absent from the signal.

  • Publication number: 20070066020
Abstract: A III-nitride device includes a recessed electrode to produce a nominally off, or an enhancement mode, device. By providing a recessed electrode, a conduction channel formed at the interface of two III-nitride materials is interrupted when the electrode contact is inactive to prevent current flow in the device. The electrode can be a schottky contact or an insulated metal contact. Two ohmic contacts can be provided to form a rectifier device with nominally off characteristics. The recesses formed with the electrode can have sloped sides. The electrode can be formed in a number of geometries in conjunction with current carrying electrodes of the device. A nominally on device, or pinch resistor, is formed when the electrode is not recessed. A diode is also formed by providing non-recessed ohmic and schottky contacts through an insulator to an AlGaN layer.
