  • Publication number: 20060213784
Abstract: An ophthalmic lens package comprises a shell having an internal cavity accessible through an opening in the shell and a drainage member that divides the internal chamber into an upper chamber and a lower chamber. The drainage member is permeable to aqueous liquids and is arranged to allow drainage of liquid from the upper chamber to the lower chamber. This arrangement of the ophthalmic lens package allows the consumer to retrieve the lens from the upper chamber without handling any significant amount of saline solution.

  • Publication number: 20060201103
Abstract: A package for contact lenses includes a first panel having a housing mechanism, such as receptacles or wells, for housing a set of contact lenses in the first panel and a covering layer removably attached to the first panel for enclosing the set of contact lenses in the housing mechanism. The package also includes a second panel attached to the first panel. The second panel is pivotable relative to the first panel between a first position, in which the second panel is folded onto the first panel, and a second position, in which the second panel is pivoted away from the first panel. When the second panel is positioned in its first position, the first and second panels form a substantially flat package which is adapted for display on a conventional display unit.

  • Publication number: 20060134397
Abstract: Described herein are methods for separating one or more analytes present in a fluid sample. The methods involve passing the fluid through a filter having a microporous material, wherein the analytes are localized near the surface of the microporous material. Additional processing steps such as hybridization and amplification can be performed once the analyte is localized. In one method, once the analyte is localized, the analyte can be detected, counted, and correlated in order to determine the concentration of the analyte in the sample. Modified microporous materials and composite materials are also disclosed that can be used in any of the methods and articles described herein. The composite is composed of a microporous material and a pigment, wherein the pigment is incorporated in the microporous material. The pigments alter the optical properties of the microporous material, which enhances the detection of analyte once it is localized.

  • Patent number: 7016488
Abstract: A communication system having an echo canceller is disclosed. One embodiment of the echo canceller includes an adaptive filter used to provide an estimate of reflected echo which is removed from the send signal. The echo canceller may also include a near-end talker signal detector which may be used to prevent the adaptive filter from adapting when a near-end talker signal is present. The echo canceller may also include a nonlinear processor used to further reduce any residual echo and to preserve background noise. The echo canceller may also include a monitor and control unit which may be used to monitor the filter coefficients and gain of the adaptive filter to maintain stability of the echo canceller, estimate pure delay, detect a tone, and inject a training signal. The echo canceller may also include a nonadaptive filter used to reduce the length of the adaptive filter.

An sponge member positioned between the shell members contains a recess for housing a contact lens and contact lens solution. One end of each of the shell members contains a tab, the tabs being juxtaposed with one another when the shell members are attached to each other. The package is opened by pulling apart the juxtaposed tabs and separating the shell members, thereby enabling access to the contact lens. The tabs have aligned apertures for hanging the package from one end thereof. An opposite end of the package is provided with a gusset that is sized and shaped for positioning the package in a free standing position. One of the shell members contains a window for allowing visual exposure of the contact lens.
