  • Publication number: 20070193194
Abstract: Width enlargement means is described, which is adapted to be attached to a joist end to adapt the latter for use with a joist hanger having a joist receiving socket with diverging side cheeks therein. When attached, the cross section shape of the end of the joist becomes trapezoidal so as to form a wedge. The inclined faces engage the diverging side cheeks of the socket thereby to provide lateral support for the joist end when fitted in the joist receiving socket. One form of enlargement means for a conventional rectangular cross section joist comprises triangular cross section fillets, which are adapted to be fitted to the opposite faces of the end of a the joist. Alternatively it may comprise a wedge shaped member having a central slot into which the end of the joist is fitted. Where the joist has an I-beam cross section, fillets are secured to opposite faces of the central web of the I-beam, or the end of the latter is fitted into a slot in a slotted wedge.

  • Patent number: 7242762
Abstract: A communication system having an echo canceller is disclosed. One embodiment of the echo canceller includes an adaptive filter used to provide an estimate of reflected echo which is removed from the send signal. The echo canceller may also include a near-end talker signal detector which may be used to prevent the adaptive filter from adapting when a near-end talker signal is present. The echo canceller may also include a nonlinear processor used to further reduce any residual echo and to preserve background noise. The echo canceller may also include a monitor and control unit which may be used to monitor the filter coefficients and gain of the adaptive filter to maintain stability of the echo canceller, estimate pure delay, detect a tone, and inject a training signal. The echo canceller may also include a nonadaptive filter used to reduce the length of the adaptive filter.

  • Publication number: 20070124957
Abstract: The invention is directed to the part of the shoe where the bottom of the foot makes contact. This part consists of a resilient material such as foam rubber. This foam is incased with an air tight plastic material, with one way valves. There will be intake valves at the heel and exhaust vents at the toe area. When pressure is applied by the foot to the foam filled bladder, air will be forced out of the one-way valves at the front of the shoe. Then when a step is taken, pressure is removed, and the foam will draw air in the one way valves at the rear of the shoe. With each step and release the air will be circulated.
