  • Publication number: 20130101386
Abstract: A dual flow steam turbine includes coolant passageways which extract coolant steam from the main steam flow paths at locations downstream from the inlet. The coolant passageways conduct the coolant steam through portions of the dual flow steam turbine which are subjected to a high temperature flow. In some cases, the passageways conduct the coolant steam through first stage nozzle boxes and an inlet assembly of the dual flow steam turbine. In some cases, the inlet assembly of the steam turbine includes an annular diaphragm, and a coolant passageway passes through the annular diaphragm to help cool the annular diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 8428006
Abstract: A system and method for a hierarchical distributed control architecture to support roaming wireless client devices. Access switches serve one or more Internet Protocol (IP) subnets that include plural IP addresses. The access switches are arranged in switch peer groups and store information about other access switches in that switch peer group and about locations of wireless client devices that are associated with any access switch in the switch peer group. The access switches are further grouped into a corresponding mobility sub-domain each including plural switch peer groups. Plural controller devices control access switches in a corresponding mobility sub-domain. Each controller device stores information about the access switches and about locations of wireless client devices within its mobility sub-domain. A central controller device communicates with the controller devices for the respective mobility sub-domains.

  • Publication number: 20130095784
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for enabling personalized shared mobile phone usage when accessing data services within a wireless telecommunications network, including an illustrative example application of the invention as it relates to mobile subscribers who cannot afford a mobile phone handset in emerging markets. For instance, a prepaid wireless subscriber can have a personal phone number associated with their own billing account, which can be used to access data services on a wireless network without needing to purchase any hardware, such as a mobile handset or SIM card. Thus, the subscriber may access his account and use data services through a borrowed handset.

  • Patent number: 8424003
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for unified job processing of interdependent heterogeneous tasks within a domain containing a plurality of nodes. Jobs containing components to be processed in the domain are submitted and are identified by type. A job control flow associated with the job type is identified and used to process the components of the job on various nodes within the domain. Multiple job control flows are handled simultaneously, and provisions are made for sharing common job components among jobs. The job control flow utilizes a finite state machine where a given instance of the finite state machine applies to a specific job type. The finite state machine can be expressed using extensible mark-up language schema.

  • Patent number: 8424000
Abstract: Various systems and methods can provide high availability of an application executing in a highly-available virtual machine environment. One method involves receiving information indicating a state of an application executing in a virtual machine from a monitoring agent executing in the virtual machine. In response to receiving the information, the method involves determining whether the virtual machine should be restarted. Based upon that determination, the method then determines whether the monitoring agent should send a heartbeat message to a virtualization controller prior to expiration of a timeout interval. The virtualization controller is configured to restart the virtual machine if the virtual machine does not send the heartbeat message prior to expiration of the timeout interval.

  • Publication number: 20130091303
Abstract: Systems and methods for performing efficient network address (NAT) translation are described herein. In some aspects, partial NAT entries are created for data packets before all the IP fragments of the data packets are received. Further, the IP fragments are transmitted before all the IP fragments of the data packets are received. In some aspects, unique IP-IDs are generated for IP fragments and/or data packets at a NAT device.

  • Patent number: 8417366
Abstract: Method and workstation automatically designing an arch-wire including compensations for auxiliary appliances or biological constraints exerting unknown forces to achieve a pre-planned treatment goal are disclosed. The adjusted customized arch-wire is designed after an initial customized arch-wire has been used to treat a patient and is at or near equilibrium. The initial custom arch-wire is first designed by producing a 3D computer-based, geometrical model of a patient's dentition, locating brackets on the digital tooth model, moving the digital tooth models to planned final positions and orientations, and then calculating a wire which fits in the slots of the brackets while the teeth are in their planned final positions and exerts no forces on the brackets. After a period of time the teeth will move under the force of the wire and will eventually move into positions such that the forces from all appliances and biological systems are in equilibrium.
