  • Patent number: 8391397
Abstract: A transmitter beamforming technique for use in a MIMO wireless communication system determines a partial description of a reverse channel without determining a full dimensional description of the reverse channel. A correction matrix is developed from the partial description of the reverse channel and a description of the forward channel. The correction matrix is used to process signals to be transmitted via the forward channel, and a steering matrix is used to perform beamforming in the forward channel.

  • Patent number: 8377037
Abstract: A series of medical instruments can be made with the use of shape memory tube with a transformation temperature that is above or below the ambient temperature. In the first case, the material behaves with the shape memory effect and in the second case the behavior is superelastic. The wall of the tube has been provided with a plurality of slots in specific places, often near or at the distal end of the instrument, and in specific arrangements which allow local variations in diameter, shape, and/or length. These variations can either be caused by the memory effect during temperature change or by superelastic behavior during change of the mechanical influences on the memory metal by the surrounding material.

  • Publication number: 20130040430
Abstract: The present disclosure provides manufacturing techniques in which sophisticated high-k metal gate electrode structures may be formed in an early manufacturing stage on the basis of a selectively applied threshold voltage adjusting semiconductor alloy. In order to reduce the surface topography upon patterning the deposition mask while still allowing the usage of well-established epitaxial growth recipes developed for silicon dioxide-based hard mask materials, a silicon nitride base material may be used in combination with a surface treatment. In this manner, the surface of the silicon nitride material may exhibit a silicon dioxide-like behavior, while the patterning of the hard mask may be accomplished on the basis of highly selective etch techniques.
