  • Publication number: 20130042260
Abstract: Plug-in configurable middleware for managing distributed applications includes at least one core runtime engine configured as a plurality of concurrent instantiations on one or more hosts within a distributed architecture. These hosts can represent separate nodes or a single node within the architecture. Each core runtime engine instance provides the minimum amount of functionality required to support plug-in architecture, that is to support the instantiation of one or more plug-ins within that core runtime engine instance. Each core runtime engine instance is in communication with other concurrent core runtime engine instances and can share the functionality of plug-in instances with the other core runtime engine instances, for example through the use of proxies. A plurality of personalities representing pre-defined functions is defined and one of more of these personalities is associated with each core runtime engine instance.

  • Publication number: 20130038437
Abstract: The vehicular notification and control apparatus receives user input via a multimodal control system, optionally including touch-responsive control and non-contact gestural and speech control. A processor-controlled display provides visual notifications of notifications and tasks according to a dynamically prioritized queue which takes into account environmental conditions and driving context and available driver attention. The display is filtered to present only valid notifications and tasks for the current available driver attention level. Driver attention is determined using multiple, diverse sensors integrated through a sensor fusion mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8373228
Abstract: A method of fabricating a semiconductor device with back side conductive plugs is provided here. The method begins by forming a gate structure overlying a semiconductor-on-insulator (SOI) substrate. The SOI substrate has a support layer, an insulating layer overlying the support layer, an active semiconductor region overlying the insulating layer, and an isolation region outboard of the active semiconductor region. A first section of the gate structure is formed overlying the isolation region and a second section of the gate structure is formed overlying the active semiconductor region. The method continues by forming source/drain regions in the active semiconductor region, and thereafter removing the support layer from the SOI substrate. Next, the method forms conductive plugs for the gate structure and the source/drain regions, where each of the conductive plugs passes through the insulating layer.

  • Patent number: 8375048
Abstract: Front end preprocessing includes an augmentation function that augments the query with additional query terms that have an associated weighting value. The terms include identifying characters so that they are recognizable as being added by the augmentation module, but are treated as any other query term by all processing components. The terms are selected based on user context, preferences, and likely intent and the confidence levels are used when ranking results.

  • Publication number: 20130034942
Abstract: When forming high-k metal gate electrode structures in transistors of different conductivity type while also incorporating an embedded strain-inducing semiconductor alloy selectively in one type of transistor, superior process uniformity may be accomplished by selectively reducing the thickness of a dielectric cap material of a gate layer stack above the active region of transistors which do not receive the strain-inducing semiconductor alloy. In this case, superior confinement and thus integrity of sensitive gate materials may be accomplished in process strategies in which the sophisticated high-k metal gate electrode structures are formed in an early manufacturing stage, while, in a replacement gate approach, superior process uniformity is achieved upon exposing the surface of a placeholder electrode material.

  • Publication number: 20130032893
Abstract: Gate height scaling in sophisticated semiconductor devices may be implemented without requiring a redesign of non-transistor devices. To this end, the semiconductor electrode material may be adapted in its thickness above active regions and isolation regions that receive the non-transistor devices. Thereafter, the actual patterning of the adapted gate layer stack may be performed so as to obtain gate electrode structures of a desired height for improving, in particular, AC performance without requiring a redesign of the non-transistor devices.

  • Patent number: 8370851
Abstract: A system and method for processing messages in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is provided. A processing service generates a snapshot of a message queue, which contains a plurality of messages to be processed by the ERP system. Each message has an associated conversation, identified by a unique combination of an endpoint, channel, and subconversation identifier. For each conversation, the processing service determines whether messages of the conversation are to be processed in serial or in parallel, based on the subconversation identifier of the conversation. When the messages of the conversation are to be processed in serial, a task is created to process the messages serially. Alternatively, when the messages of the conversation are to be processed in parallel, a task is created for each of the messages. The messages of each task are processed serially by the task, while each task is executed in parallel with other tasks.

  • Patent number: 8369471
Abstract: A plurality of sub-channel response estimates corresponding to a plurality of contiguous sub-channels in a communication channel are determined, and a plurality of weight coefficients are determined. The plurality of sub-channel response estimates are multiplied with the plurality of weight coefficients to generate a plurality of weighted sub-channel response estimates. A filtered sub-channel response estimate for one of the plurality of contiguous sub channels is generated using the plurality of weighted sub-channel response estimates.

  • Publication number: 20130030811
Abstract: Sensors within the vehicle monitor driver movement, such as face and head movement to ascertain the direction a driver is looking, and gestural movement to ascertain what the driver may be pointing at. This information is combined with video camera data taken of the external vehicle surroundings. The apparatus uses these data to assist the speech dialogue processor to disambiguate phrases uttered by the driver. The apparatus can issue informative responses or control vehicular functions based on queries automatically generated based on the disambiguated phrases.
